Josh, kudos to you for putting Dave on your channel . I met Dave back in the 90's . I was his drum tech for an evening . He walks in , and starts helping me set up his own drums ! He was so chill , we just started kicking it and eating pizza while setting up. I was just some average guy just helping out , and Dave treated me with respect . Being a young man from the Bronx , that meant the world to me . You are heading in a great direction Josh by starting to put the greats on - in addition to the up and coming . Out of all the millions of good drummers out there.. HE is one of only a few you can recognize within 3 seconds of hearing !! Hes sooooo damn good.. plays with all these top level musicians daily and just doesn't ever seem to get lost. or even drop a damn stick playing this crazy difficult music! Lol

cobra1995xx youre right. I can always recognize him on a track. I remember hearing a tune over speaker and the drumming was fantastic. But it sounded familiar. Sure enough it was him. I thought to myself well that explains alot.

True story , the keyboard and I was in a band together when he came to America for about 5 years the band was called ezzeldin trio . I remember he tried to give Dave weckl a demo back in 09 08 , Dave weckl looked down at him like get outta here , Osam left the country started playing with the Turkish all stars. Came back to the United States gave the same music to Kye Ecklhart , bass playa for garaj mahal Osam end playing with Dave anyway thru Kye . Dave weckl ended up becoming a fan of Osam without knowing he was the same person he looked down back in Dallas at the brook mays . I’ve studied and listened to Dave every since he’s been on wax , Osam is a good friend of mine . Damn video lil homie . This is the best you done so far , this is supreme drumming.

Glad to see you enjoying one of the best ever. I saw the David Weckl Band in The Colony Theater in Connecticut years ago. He was one of my inspirations to play the drums for 18 years of my life. To ditto another comment here about other drummers. Manu Katche, Vinnie Colaiuta, Joe Morello, Marco Minneman, Dennis Chambers, Bernard Purdie, Virgil Donati are just several other fantastic players to check out if you haven't already !

So many great drummers, but Dave's fluidity is second to none. He floats around the drums. I always seem to come back to Dave. What he's doing is not as important as how he's doing it. You want to get to the next level study Dave Weckl!
