Great background information how you captured this image Joshua. Persistence is a great virtue for a Landscape photographer to have. Re Yosemite National Park; YES I have heard of it, NO, I haven't been there, probably never will. (I'm from Australia). I'd rather go to NZ, Norway-Lofoten (again), Iceland, Scotland. It's interesting that the image on your page background is of "THAT WANAK TREE" before someone mutilated it in the last 12 months :(. Cheers! :)

Wonderful image showing the power of the water coming down. I captured a similar image in Telluride of Bridal Veil Falls one sunrise morning a few years back including the tops of the pine trees washed in early light as a foreground. Watching your various series on You Tube helped me look for something different than my original intent for a composition that morning-for that I say ‘thank you’. It’s why I watch and learn then try to apply it in the field when the opportunity presents itself. Keep up the great work but equally as important for some of us, keep helping us understand the ‘how’ and ‘why’ so we can think differently in the field! That’s my takeaway...

My God, you have courage, I think the locals call that Rattlesnake Ridge, most definitely not for the faint of heart. I love the shot and will try using the techniques next time I shoot a waterfall. Great video!

This shot is Legendary. I remember seeing this photo while scrolling through top 50 placing images on Epson Panoramic Awards 2017. I got mine in the top 50 a year earlier and was hoping to see my submission there again in 2017 but it didn't happen lol. I was curious (and confused) back then about what is exactly the actual subject is and I never thought will get the complete explanation 3 years later. 🤣 Superb quality work 👍👍👍

Great shot, Joshua. Thanks for sharing this with us. I can verify that this location is very sketchy in that the "trail" isn't that large and it's very exposed in sections. People should NOT be taking their younger kids up there. Secondly, If you head up there on a nice sunny day, you will definitely need more water than you think. Third... if photographers have a very long lens, ie. 600 or so, it is still possible to get in tight on those water cascades while shooting from a side angle. There are quite a few spots on the valley floor and up into Yosemite Village that could give photographers similar results without making this sketchy climb...especially if they are less experienced. Lastly (not trying to talk people out of this but I came back a little rattled after my first trip up there) there was a moderately sized rattle snake cooling off under a rock in front of me just before I got to the base of the falls. 😬. Experienced hikers and rock climbers should have no problem at all, but if you are new at that kind of thing, you don't want this to be your first hike in the valley.

Great image and very interesting/helpful to learn about technique/settings for things that are not the usual static landscape setup. How do you determine where to pin the points on the tone curve?

Hi Roger. Happy you found it helpful. For the tone curve I used the targeted adjustment tool, and pinned one point on the water highlights, and one point on the water's shadows.
