It's amazing how much does your story make connection with all of us, all those child excitements that we have exhibited and at the same time felt lucky that no one was around to observe us. Great story. Waiting pationately for the next part.

Great, great video (yeah I said it twice). Loving the funk for the cooking with Cripps segue. Have to hand it to you for your focus, would've taken me a week to make that climb with the billion photos I would've having to stop to take! Thanks for sharing, can't wait for the final installment 👍

Thanks, Michael. You are right: the first time I went through that area I shot hundreds of photos. This time I was on a mission. :)

Well, Joshua Tree, you fooled me. Going with you (via video) to the Alabama Hills, I expected to see it surrounded by cotton fields and Southern Charm. Just shows you how little this ol' South Texas boy knows. Looking forward to Part 3 at sunrise.
@JoshuaCrippsPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Turns out this area was named after the USS Alabama, so there's the southern connection. NatGeo online has an article about where the name came from and whether we should revert to the original Paute name.

Perhaps Cripps Arch?. Those boulders looked like an amazing (and hard) landscape to explore
@JoshuaCrippsPhotography3 жыл бұрын
I mean, I won't stop anyone from calling it Cripps Arch. :) But I'm sure there is another name for it. And yes, such a cool spot.

Dang my brother, you spent a lot of time setting up cameras and editing for 11 mins. Wow, you have passion.

Great work, why aren't you doing parts of the scouting just by flying the drone instead of climbing from ridge to ridge?
@JoshuaCrippsPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bernhard. And good question: I tried scouting with the drone a bit and found it's essentially impossible to see an arch from the air. And you have to be a really good pilot to be willing to fit it low among the boulders.

Very Nice, which pack are you using in this video?
@JoshuaCrippsPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, this is the MindShift Rotation 360 Pro. It's a great pack, though it's a little heavy.

Love the meal in a bag. Actually surprised, though, to see you using a disposable plastic bag. Seems uncharacteristic, especially with so many insulated food canisters out there today (that will also not get accidentally punctured and make a yogurty mess in your bag!)
@JoshuaCrippsPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Cheers, Jim. A lot of time I will use tupperware but forgot to pack on one this trip. Though most of the time I wash out and reuse those heavy ziplock bags too.

I was recently on a road trip to Joshua Tree and, yes, avoid the cholla at all cost. Don't ask me why. Ouch.

There should be a club for everyone who's enjoyed the caress of the cholla.

Josh another great video not only educational but also entertaining maybe you could call your videos as "edutainment" if that's a word

It's definitely a word! Glad you enjoyed the video Ian. It's a fun process to learn how to make these videos educational, entertaining, and enjoyable as well.

Nice to see those Alabama Hills again, but surely you could look around for some music that is even less evocative of the beautiful wide-open western spaces. This music is pretty annoying, but not quite annoying enough.
@JoshuaCrippsPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Gotta love the 'Bama Hills. I like the music, but everyone has their own tastes. S'all good!
