They're actually have a good synergy. Tenyi give different attributes for fusion material. Aleister + Tenyi can summon the Link-2 Aleister Madness, and the discard cost from Aleister Link-2 isn't really a problem for Tenyi.

As an avid Tenyi player (pure Tenyi) since 2019, this support is just so good for the deck. The new lv4 fixes many of the issues of the deck of having not enough starters (having only Ashuna) but it also, accelerates the deck's best cards out of the deck, something that until now completely relied on them being drawn. Like Josh said, the best moments of the deck are in a grind game, since the deck can just hold to dear life and deal with the opponent cards in all kinds of fashion. This support just improves in every single part of the deck BUT, there is a huge issue (at least as a pure version of the deck pertains), we still do have not a good enough turn 1, the deck now is sooooo close, but we need at least one more interaction during the opponent turn, it's a shame none of the new cards searches the counter trap or, gives an extra effect to a link or synchro (something like return a banish wyrm/tenyi to the deck to do X, or something).

Yeah ending on a towers and maybe some random traps you drew just isn't quite there yet. That said it mixes so well with other Wyrm archetypes still that trying to be a standalone deck might not be necessary.

Before this support, at least I can setup the Link-4 and Denglong with counter trap, then the Yang Zing engine can summon another synchro after you use the counter trap. But this deck is still better for going 2nd.

I kinda dont mind this. 1 monster negate and 2 banish (maybe 2 more destruction effects if they manage to also get evil Longyuan out) is way better to go against than Yubel/Unchained or Snake eyes/Fire king. Wait wait hang on, what happens if you do normal Tenyi combo ending on the new synchro, link 3 non-effect and link 4, then do a mikanko play and play the mikanko field spell? Is your opponent just locked? Sahasrara makes it so they can only attack non-effect monsters, but mikanko field makes it so they HAVE to attack monsters equipped with equip cards. (the only reason why I'm thinking about mikankos here is because I kinda thought the new main deck tenyi looked like a mikanko card when I first saw it)

I think makanko needs you to have an equip on a monster, but yes it would stop attacking, but make you vulnerable to effects in exchange. If you want to lock out attacks it would be better to summon cyberse quantum dragon.

I 1000% agree of what Josh is saying. Konami gotta stop enticing players to mix different themes together that isn't directly connected intentionally to each other just for them to compete or end up being the most degenerate pair in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh. For the time left remaining in the Advanced Format of Yu-Gi-Oh!, make most of each deck themes be able to purely be rouge to tier 2 without overly pushing them to be. Yes, that's easier said than done because you would have to think ahead of what the players could be able to use with the many staples, engines, and/or tech cards available & in the future if thinking long term, but it is possible and requires work (no lazy-ing out of this & must include playtesting) & having the right mind space (no crack or booze/alcohol). Another thing, as one who actually studies card design in Yu-Gi-Oh! & makes custom cards like in a professional manner, you often find Konami not knowing or remembering of many things, but one of them being word technicality. Missing timing effects or mandatory effects, for example, might not make the effect be useful or good, but it is a balancing tactic that can lower the potential they can bring to particular pushed decks or themes most of the time within context. The game is complicated & complex to where any adjustments within certain effects can change the complete functionality of what that effect does. Instead of Konami having to limit or keep things more simplified & lazy in effects, they should explore more in these technicalities to have the game feel more fresh with plays & functionalities not seen before for a while at least as well as figure out what helps balance-wise. These are just two of many things Konami should look into to make their game better. I could go on & on with how wrong their card design perspectives are, but I would also say the intention for that is to help sell the themes/card product sets despite having a lot of general card game & Yu-Gi-Oh! merchandise and/or accessories they could be advertising and/or promoting much more for their greed, so.....

I think we are at a point were Wyrm Synchro is Dragon Link 2.0. Cards are wyrm specific, they build a cohesive strategy (Lvl 8/10 Synchros), strong non-generic boss monsters and now they get what was missing most, extenders when mo ye gets impermed. Would love for Tenyis get one or two more cards and I hope Swordsoul can finally get a playable card that's not from the 1st wave of support

If you somehow get Aegrine and the Tenyi link 4 onto the field at the same time with a couple tokens on the field your entire board becomes immune to card effects and cannot be destroyed until the tokens are dealt with, so if you somehow figure out a way to continually generate tokens every turn this could actually be kinda crazy

The link-4 is easy to summon because we have Mare Mare. Before this support, usually I can end with Link-4 Tenyi and Denglong with counter trap and the follow up; Yang Zing engine can summon another synchro after you use the Counter trap. And another 1 Synchro lv. 8 if you hand good. But I understand "Tenyi Pure" don't have enough disruptions because their gimmick are pseudo-tower and board breaking. Because the field spell now is more accessible, Link-4 Sahasrara give protection to all effect monsters if you have non-effect, and Flawless Perfection give protection to Non-effect. Then, we also have more consistent access to Tenyi counter trap too.

I think this lean more towards playing a pure Tenyi deck instead of playing it with Swoswo and i don't mind that at all. PS: What about a Syncro 11 1 Wyrm Tuner + 1 Non-Tuner Monster that searches the counter on summon and allows you to copy the effect of a Tenyi monster in the GY as quick effect so u can copy Vishuda's eff on the opp turn for a bounce and a final eff that if you control a non-effect monster the card summons itself back from the banishment.

unpopular opinion here: i hope that if tenyi gets more support it makes the sowrdsoul/tenyi meta relevatn again. I find nothing interesting about a pure tenyi deck and the swordsoul variant was what motivated me to go from MD to try irl yugioh, I even accquired a full swordsoul deck that got shit on by everything at the time, but I'd really really like to be able to play that for my meta pick at a regional some day

Time for me to play the wackiest deck ever: Adventure Tenyi Multiverse Ashened. Adventure has the normal monster and gives the deck nibiru protection Tenyi gives protection through the new monsters + can search a field spell Ashened pops field spells while setting up dark hole (but you're immune to it since you're unaffected by card effects) Multiverse is there since the deck will run set rotation and have a lot of field spells to recycle

Cheat out the link 4 to make your effect monsters untargettable. Edit: Already tested the new support in swordsoul and this is very strong. This will be a strong tier 2 deck upon release. Ashuna is a one card combo now. Ashuna + Moye is a crazy end board if your not otking

Tenyi can be played pure. I have went undefeated lots of times with it and generic support. In have tested the jew support. It pushs the protect my castle style even further and easier. U can easy drop 2-3 floodgates turn 1. Which often gives u a auto win. It takes alot to dismantle a true tenyi end board and u get punished for doing so with the tenyi hand & grave monster hand traps. The opponent puts so much into trying to clear ur board. That they dont have enough resources to make a proper board them selves. Also the link 4 is extremely powerful. Not only is ur stuff not targetable. They cant even target themselves with there own card effects 😂 i lost count of how many times my opponent said " why cant i target my own monsters " 😂

Please give me exactly one combo line in a deck that isn't Swordsoul or Tenyi that can make that effect live. You won't be searching Secret Village because you're not playing Spellcasters, you won't be searching Necrovalley because it kills the Swordsoul endboard, and you won't be searching Zombie World because it also kills the Swordsoul endboard. The card is balanced.

I had to laugh at what you said "Tenyi is used more like a tool then its own deck". You do know that is like every other deck? You have a ton of decks that aren't using their own cards. Name a deck that isn't using Bystials or some kinda deck that don't have two decks mixed together lol. I mean look at Snake-eyes people put them with almost anything. Tenyi can function as it's own deck the problem is that it is too slow. Not that they can't be their own deck. They would need better extra deck monsters to help them be great and monsters that can put them back into the GY again. Even quick effects in the GY would be great for Tenyi.

What are you even talking about? It still revolves around the same mechanics, gives purpose to all those lv4s we already have, helps you find Tenyis more consistently. It even fits lore wise because of Monk and Shaman getting stronger that's why The Monk synchro reaches for the fieldspell and Shaman is supposed to control Sahasrara at will now
