It isn't that it's too sweet. It's that there is basically no coffee. You expect more coffee flavor if it's coffee. Instead, it's mostly coffee creamer and sugar. Not gonna lie, I kind of prefer that as a non-coffee drinker.

I get it though. I have a huge sweet tooth for anything candy, pastry, ice cream, desserts, ... But I drink my coffee black because I don't like sugar in it, I find almost all cokctails too sweet. It's really down to the product I'm consuming and much less the actual sugar content.

In french, we call the french toast : "pain perdu" that means that bread, that begins to harden over time and weather, has used to not loose the bread in the poor family to give to their kids something to eat at 4pm. Every french kid asks to eat something at 4pm to his mother, aunt, grand mother. Every family, specially in Normandie did this receipe because all the ingredients were available and not cheap. In Normandie, it's a well known country of eggs, milk, cream, butter, brioche ...

Huh? He is literally showing you how to make this yourself at home. These recipes aren't even very difficult, and they don't require special equipment like some recipes do.

@@entombed_kills you people are so annoying. you click on a french toast recipe video, OBVIOUSLY not the healthiest thing, and go berate the people in the comments for wanting to try it? ffs, get some sense.

In Brazil, we have the "rabanada". It looks like french toast: similar ingredients but different technique. It's a typical Christmas dish. We use a day old french baguette. Firstly we dip it into a mixture of milk and condensed milk, then into beaten eggs. After that, we deep fry it in oil. We end up covering it with cinnamon sugar. It's usually served cold. Each family has its own tricks, but that's the basic.

Pro tip: for type 1 French toast, use apple sauce instead of maple syrup. The acidity balances really well with the rich sweetness

This looks so fancy ( and delicious, of course ) ! "Pain Perdu" means "wasted bread" it's a way the poor people found to eat the stale bread. My grandmother used to make it for me when I was a kid : one egg, milk and sugar, fry it and put "cassonnade" on top ! It's so funny that this down to earth recipe made to accommodate left over has become such an epitome of french cuisine XD my grandma would have lectured me if I had tried to make this recipe with fresh bread, let alone brioche !

So, I took his cinnamon roll recipe, but instead of cutting it into rolls, I cut it in half and baked it in a bread pan. Then I used the cinnamon roll bread in the french toast recipe. Ungodly good, highly recommended.

When I was wee french toast was just eggs and salt...it was only when i was 18 i realised it can be sweet, my mind was blown. Now 7 years later i can see it can be mega sweet, mmm, need to give it a try. Thanks. Foodie from Scotland ♡

this is really funny to me because in france we just call it 'pain perdu' (lost bread) and use whatever bread / brioche is about to go stale.
