I grew up in the church and was a devout christian. At 16 years old, my brother died of heart disease i had spent my life begging for God to heal. He was 19. I spent the next 10 years running so far from God, cursing His name, spitting in his face. This year, my sister was pregnant with twins. One wasnt receiving the nutrients needed to survive and was at high risk of joining my brother. For the first time in years, i got down and prayed. I begged God to protect my unborn nephews. They were both born 3 months early, just over 2 lbs in an emergency Csection. After months in the NICU and countless scares, Theyre both home happy and healthy. My life has done a complete 180, and im now on a path to becoming a missionary. I dont deserve Gods love. I dont deserve his forgiveness. This song and The Prodigal bring me to tears every time i listen. Our God is great and merciful, how wonderful it is to be able to sing his praise. I am Barabbas.

I recently found this song on Spotify by randomly listening to some Christian songs. Believe me, this song is something different. I've personally written some Christian songs and have listened to many Christian songs, but this is one of the most different Christian songs I've ever heard of. The reason is, The Bible says, who Barabbas was and we rarely speak about him. What we have forgotten is that we were that Barabbas, whom we were forgiven by Jesus. This song just took me to the perspective of Barabbas, watching how his price is paid by someone who never deserved it. Luke 23:17-19 17 (for it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast). 18 And they all cried out at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas”- 19 who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder. John 18:40 40 Then they all cried again, saying, “Not this Man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber. So, Barabbas was released and his(in other words our) penalty was taken by Jesus.
