Its been scientifically proven that no single method is better than the other as long as you slap the strap and say "That's not goin' anywhere" after you tighten them.

I've been strapping the front around a spoke but doing an "x" in the rear for years. Thanks for this video. Always enjoy learning a better ways to do things.

I always advocate 4 corner wheel strapping at every track event I go to. tend to stop by pits that I see are cross strapped. Great video.. I also prefer Over the tire strapping, instead of wrapping the strap around suspension parts / wheels just to keep tension and stress off those things.

Fantastic video. I prefer not to use the open hooks - I've had the car shift using an x (never again) then completely unhooked from the wheel strap. I now use straps/ratchets with latching hooks. Even if the strap becomes loose, they will stay attached.

When I tow my jeep/rock crawler, if I strap it straight, it would bounce from side to side and get really close to the edge of the trailer. it doesnt move at all with the X pattern... (I strap it on the rigid axle, might be the difference here)

Would you consider having side doors on your enclosed trailer to access the wheels from the outside?

AND, make yourself a set of designated straps, no stupid lengths hanging down, flappung around or jammed in doors or trunk lids. Then keep them clean and lubrikated.

I used to tie down through the spokes of the wheel but it was pulling the alignment off on the car over time.

I don't know why more people don't put a bungee cord between the hooks so it can never slack off enough to come unhooked. Since I started using bungees between the hooks 30+ years ago with my motorcycles, I never had one hook become unhooked no matter how rough it's been on the road. Geez, it's a simple way to not have to worry at all. Good video!

What's your opinion on Lasso or basket style in a enclosed trailer????

The problem with tying down on your wheels is that your $2k shocks are bouncing all the way to/from the track. If you tow 200 miles, your race car suspension has just driven 200 miles.

They sell a air bag to put under your race care to stop your suspension from moving or minimizing the movement.

Or if you know that you’re doing a long trip you could put your old coilovers assuming you keep them, and switch to your new ones when you get to the track. A lot of hassle I know

The only time I've seen people have cars bounce sideways into the trailer wall is from straight strapping. The only transporter way is wheels "down" or chassis "down" not "out", as you correctly shown on track or trailer pics. I don't have tracks so I do both straight and crossed, because I only have about an inch on either side from wheel to trailer wall and the car becomes impossible to unload if it shifts, and some of these states have roads bad enough that I've gotten airborne before and seen fuel tanks and battery boxes fall off 18 wheelers near chicago, lol.

The "best" way is to the chassis with air bladders under the car front and rear so there is no suspension travel. A ten hour tow with only the wheels strapped is ten hours of wear and tear on your shocks and suspension components. If you have $10k shocks you dont want them bad boys wearing out.

I don't even use a strap in Japan. I just use the 2 front wheel chalks and the winch to the tow hook. No other straps and 90 percent of the other people with single car haulers will do the same. Having nice roads is a huge plus.

Or just dont use crappy straps and learn to put them on in a way that wont break them. Cross strapping is about the most used method of securement in transportation. The only way it can go wrong is if u are using the wrong straps or putting them on wrong

His example is based on rubber bands!!! 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️He is totally wrong, he does not know what he's talking about. either way works!! I'm a heavy haul truck driver and the best way to tie down 100,000 pound machines is crossing your chains but don't believe this guy both ways work fine!
