@queerp let me rephrase some of that. it's not that i dislike studio sound, i just like it better when it sounds a bit more natural. a bit closer to live. sometimes bands become perfectionists in the studio. Tom's voice had a lot of effects to make it sound better in the studio, but on Dude Ranch they didn't do that to anyones voice.

@SicknessInvader scott was JUST a punk drummer. Travis has played in drumcorps jazz n latin bands etc etc... which is why he's actually able to bring smt new to the table instead of copying and pasting the same punk beats from song to song over and over again...like scott. and blink sounded different because TOM and MARK wrote the songs different. all travis did was stick in his beats after they were already written.

Actually... that drummer was perfect. They were much more punk back before Enema of the State and most of the snare hits were on the up beats. Boost that tempo up to about 200 bpm and that drum rhythm is gonna sound pretty crazy XD

@AmsterdamFire321 Travis may have gravitated towards hip hop lately but he used to be in the Aquabats before Blink. And there are some videos of him up online even before that when he's playing with an old school punky band. Tastes and styles change all the time. Travis is just more versatile even though he speeds up songs by like, 1000%. Ultimately, it was obviously the right choice for Blink. I just wish people wouldn't care so much. If you like old blink, listen to it. Fuck..

I much prefer Scott as a drummer, he plays what is needed, not what is most impressive. He doesn't have the "lets see how much I can show off" mentality. Dude Ranch is still my favourite blink album by far

@SicknessInvader i agree, travis is obviously a great drummer, and has a different style which was apart of the change in their sound. Dude Ranch is my favourite album, cos it sounds so raw and simple. It still sounds punk. But it turned more into Pop punk on Enema of the State, and Take off your pants and jacket. and then their last album sounded more emo punk. Dude Ranch is the best. also those other albums sound so much like their in the studio. which they are... but i don't like that...

scott was some serious hardcore punk drummer. I think thats why blink sounds too different after travis joined them. Im not saying that travis is a bad drummer, not at all, just saying that scott used to give that real punk beat

its becuase scott had a heavy metal influence, whereas travis has jazz influence etc. no doubt travis made better drum parts but considering they are pop punk, scott suited them better

certain songs, travis sounds alot better, and some like dammit and josie, scott sounds better but i think scotts style is more punk rock,but also, i mean, i dont think i could imagine scott playing i miss you, or always, or stockholm syndrome, the whole band used to be more punk rock, they didnt just change cause of scott, and travis fits their new style better than scott would.
