@@davidc4408 robots aren't worth much in other countries. Specifically because not everywhere has the appropriate infrastructure to maintain them, nor the social caste to honour it. Someone in the US knows that stealing from one of them in the US wouldn't get them in trouble. Someone in the UK knows that this silly robot couldn't make it up half the slopes that are British streets. Someone in China knows the robots for flat city streets made with modern uses in mind and if someone stole form it they'd be in deep shit. You're acting like the UK and US don't have flying drones in the works for these roles to get around such obstacles. Yours is easier to handle, it's on wheels and has everything catered to it.

And it's linked to the phone system so that it'll called the room when it arrived. The problem here is if you don't speak Chinese, you won't know it's the robot calling and will just hang up the phone, and the robot will freeze at your door step. Can it only deliver to the 1st floor or are there robots on each floor & the food is handed to them by the food courier?
@josieliftsthings3 күн бұрын
It sits in the lobby, the food delivery person hands it to reception, reception put it in the robot and type in the room number - the robot then communicates with the lift system - so it will stop in front of the lift, and it will (virtually) “press” the up button, get in the lift, and then “press” the floor button. Once on that floor it leaves the elevator and goes to the room number. It’s able to basically communicate with the lift system and also the doorbell systems to know which room to go to. When I answered the phone call in this the first time, it was reception confirming that I had ordered food. The second call was the robot calling my room phone when it arrived telling me my order was ready and to open the door. Pretty wild.

Interesting! I hope they do something like this for your community! I live in a large city in the US that has Uber eats delivery, DoorDash, some restaurants do their own delivery still, robots, people on bikes or electric scooters if you live downtown, grocery delivery through shipt.. I sound like a commercial for all of these companies but that’s just how nuts it can be in a city! Each have their own phone apps and membership options.. There are so many delivery services that they compete with each other. You do pay a higher price per dish / grocery item in most cases plus there is a tip culture so you have to add that on and delivery fees on top of that- but being a mom that doesn’t always want to fuss with grocery shopping with kids or .. even cooking sometimes, it’s almost too convenient..? I come from a time where even in a big city you could only MAYBE get a pizza or American-Chinese food so this is always insane to me also. I definitely think the services could benefit even more for a situation/ community like yours!
