After reading all of part 8 a few months ago I think the new voice lines fit him well. Gappy is a surprisingly serious character most of the time. I do like the voice crack in the oras of the previous voice lines though.

I like the new one more. The original sounds somewhat goofy which fitted Josuke when ASB came out, but thin one sounds mature which is more accurate for Josuke after the end of JoJolion. Same with the stand cry, it had a voice crack since he screamed "ORA ORA ARA ORA" in Oijiro fight, but this one sounds more confident. I wish they would rework him more since he feels outdated by now.

My problem is that if he truly removed all friction then Kira would have been blown away by the first punch. If Kira is just staying there after the first punch that means only the last punch did anything.

I'll say very unlikely... When the original ASB was released, only Parts 1 and 2 were out... The only JoJo to have the same VA in the game and anime is Jotaro, the rest were all changed in the anime... Being a VA for the JoJo in this game wouldn't mean securing the same role in the anime...

I do hope they have an option to switch the VAs in the Voice options. For example, you switch Jolyne's new VA to the Old one, and you can just keep the other character's voices whenever you feel like it to switch them. It's like Marvel vs Capcom 3 where you have to switch the Capcom characters to their JP or English dubs.

The new one is one of the few I really prefer. It’s more serious but when he talks it sounds more quick, which makes it feel less “lazy” or “bored” And the few times he sounds goofy stand out and really help his character feel goofy more, ironically. I feel like Josuke in part 8 is amazing because of both his random goofy moments and his determination he can have, the newer voice acting reflects this more accurately and I love it.

They really left him completely unchanged. No Go Beyond, no Rokakaka, no real references after chapter 11. At least they have references like his split eyes, stealing Joshuu's sight, and that one pose he does a lot with his finger to his lip. A better voice, sure, but I'm still disappointed.

Wrong, Gappy's voice actor isn't Yuki Ono. It's Mitsuaki Madono, the same voice actor for Kon (Bleach) and Scratchmen Apoo (One Piece).
