This is a full independent review of the Jotul F170 range, we test the stoves real world performance in:
Clean glass
Fuel economy
Ease of lighting
And controlling
I also give my views and a bit of background information. The videos are designed to be quick with only the key information, but you are welcome to ask questions in the comments.
We are a little independent channel that started doing this purely for a love of the industry. Over time it has become what we do, and we have been fortunate enough to cover our costs and make living. This is achieved through:
Manufacturers sending us stoves, that they allow us to keep.
Some paid work, making videos for KZbin or a manufacturers own website.
Your views and the ad revenue generated.
and our little shop here on KZbin.
Thank you so much to all of you for your support!!!
If you would like any further information about the stove or us please feel free to drop me a comment or you check can out the manufacturers page here:

Brilliant review as per usual, this is the future of stove technology, as governments and authorities want to take the consumer variables out of the question.

The block you mention on the door is actually a door damper (soft close) .. The door can be shut immediatley after ignition without having to keep it ajar. M

It certainly seemed to work! I had thought it was there to hold the door ajar, but as you say it’s no issue to shut it straight away.

Great review as usual and lovely stove the run themselves stoves seem to be on the rise now but still prefer a bit more controllability even if I do sometimes get it wrong but that's human I guess 😂🔥

Yea I’m with you, I find myself wanting control, but for certain users I think this idea has something.

It’s a very clever stove, that’s for sure and it will certainly fit nicely into certain people’s lifestyle, people who enjoy the look of a stove but not really interested in interacting maybe? 🤔 To me, it’s like getting my dream car but having a chauffeur driving you around……I want to have a drive please!! Kind regards Tony

You mentioned a while ago you’d just had an F205 delivered- are you going to do a review of it or has that ship sailed? Interested to know what you think of it.

Have you ever done a review of moisture meters for wood and if not, will you please? Thank you for all your very useful info, it helped me to choose my present burner and taught me how to light a perfect fire - at last!

It’s not wide enough to fit precut logs sideways how silly

Spotted the same. As many of us cut our own - my logs to 32cm (I use a log cut ruler) the firebox would mean more log cutting to make smaller logs. But then if spending ~£4k on a stove, you may well have someone else to do that or buy pre cut! Would actually be useful to have your comments on internal dimensions in future reviews Gabriel. You could make a log ruler or just have a standard (house brick sized?) log you test all future stoves with. But for today, what an amazing bit of top end kit. Thanks for making the video.

Every log is a little different, but generally you could fit most things sideways or front to back.

Someone is in lo-ove :p lol Nice review, but one stupid question: How come the efficiency in "only" 76% (according to Jøtul)? Considering the burnout-function I would expect this one to be the top notch of the top notchers (?), yet I can get a 85% efficiency one for half the price :o
@markryan5051

Yes 85% in a laboratory with an experienced engineer running the appliance. This stove gives you 76% in the real world. It’s about the cleanliness with this product. Good point you raised

It’s interesting because real world results do seem to be quite different. Very easy to make an 85% efficiency stove to perform at 60% I believe. Where as this is 76% all the time, and everywhere. It does seem very accurate, everything was very precise.

Good afternoon. How successful is the implementation of auto adjustment? Does the stove spit smoke when adding firewood in the burning stage?
@TheTortoise
@TheTortoise 3 ай бұрын
No, it’s really well thought out. Particularly if you re-load when the stove tells you to, then I had no spillage issues at all.

@@TheTortoise I'm clarifying this because the official video of the Jotul F200 shows smoke in the room when added to the coals. This is no good!
@TheTortoise
@TheTortoise 3 ай бұрын
It’s worth noting that when wood has burned down to red charcoal it is no longer producing smoke. So generally this issue is caused by re-loading the stove too early, however if you wait for it to have burned down, then you’ll never have this issue. This stove has a small light that tells you to re-load and if you follow that, then there should never be an issue at all. If however you open the stove whilst it’s still full of burning logs, then smoke can spill.
