Raziel must have felt really wrong it this scene... knowing that he had killed, out of an unnatural feat of anger, the only ally he could have... and discovering that he indeed have free will after all those terrible doubts... No good at all for one's self-esteem, xD. Fortunately enough, Moebius told him about his free will before the drama unfolded in full, and that allowed Raziel to be sure of sacrificing himself in the end. D.R.

birkinsmith88 is right. The Elder God could have resurrected him many times. It wasn't until Raziel struck Moebius with the Reaver that his his soul was incapable of being revived. And his appearance here at this time is not out of place. This scene takes place before Vorador's execution, and Moebius is not killed by Kain until afterwards.

This scene makes no sense as Moebius should be dead, after watching blood omen scene, but then I figured that Moebius is a time streamer and could have gone forward in time then back in time to execute Vorador and die by kain

It's been a long time since I played these games but I don't think Moebius should be dead here yet. This is shortly after Kain returns from the past and fighting William, when he arrives to find Moebius executing Vorador. It's only after that he goes after Moebius.

​@@BigUriel He should be dead. After Turel's death you can catch Mortanius saying "Come to me my undead son, make haste to the pillars. The stage is set for the grand finale, you will have your vengeance" which is something you hear after you kill Moebius in the first Blood Omen, since he wants to be the last of the guardians Kains kills. However, Moebius is a time streamer, he has been able to make portable time machines for Kain and Azimuth to use, I wouldn't put it past him that he jumped in time a few hours after his death to taunt Raziel and make sure his mercenary army destroys Vorador's mansion so he can't get to Janos, after all he sees the ripples of his potential actions.

I propose the idea that Avernus Cathedral is like a pocket dimension that takes the characters where they need to be instead of were they want to go. An example is when Kain went there in “Blood Omen” and found the “Soul Reaver” and despite Azimuth having the run of the place, she never found it. She may have also used the Cathedral to hide thinking she was safe, that is until Kain found her. In the case with Mortanius, he used the Cathedral to hide his presence as well (from Moebius perhaps), but Raziel was able to find him and obtain information about the “Heart of Darkness”. Think of it as “The Room of Requirements” with causality added.

@@BigUriel The point is at this point in Defiance Raziel has already met Mortanius where he clearly speaks the "Come to me my undead son" line, which is AFTER Kain killed Moebius. But yeah, I agree with Ratzor...we are dealing with time travelling here...Moebius can go WHEN he pleases. And he already has a precedent of going out of his way to taunt Raziel (like he did with his 'ghost' self in SR2 in the dystopian future).

RetrospectGreg but it takes place after Raziel meets Mortanius and acquires the Heart of Darkness and Mortanius can clearly be seeing communicating with the younger Kain at what would be near to the very end of Blood Omen.
