Hola, muy buen trabajo, te cuento que fabrique un jouhikko, pero no se como son las cuerdas i su afinación, me podrías ayudar con eso? Te lo agradecería eternamente... Hello, very good work, I tell you to make a jouhikko, but I do not know how the strings are and their tuning, could you help me with that? I would thank you forever ...

Hello sir. I wanna build Jouhikko to, but i dont know what type of wood i can use and what type of wood sound good. Can you help me please and give some instructions please ?
@HexExxon7 жыл бұрын
ondra t From what I've gathered, and by no means am I an expert on this, I think anything from ash to sycamore will do. Depending on how you carve it, you could use oak, but it may be a bit too hard and "brittle." You might want to stay away from softer woods like redwood too. You want the walls of the sound cavity to be as thin as feasibly possible, but still able to vibrate to some extent. For the sycamore jouhikko I'm building currently, the walls are about half an inch thick. The board you use to overlay the cavity as a soundboard can be birch or birch or beach wood, something that is strong yet still flexible without breaking under the pressure of the bridge. For the bridge, it can be the same as you use for the body, but the way you cut it matters more. The bridge should be quarter-sawn for the best vibration transmission, and cut so the strongest part of the wood contacts the soundboard. The tailpiece can really be any kind of hardwood, if you plan on making it similar to a violin tailpiece. As for the traditional "stick" tailpiece, it might be best to use the same wood used for the body. www.nogy.net And www.instrumentsofantiquity.com/finlandia/ Both good reads, and plenty of inspiration to be found. Good luck!

Birch is traditional as that's the hardwood most common in the regions these instruments where invented.
@Krabadaque7 жыл бұрын
For the top of the instrument spruce or cedar is usually recommended, and if you can find wood from an old house that's being torn down, it's even better. Then you can be sure the wood is dry. Also see that the "year rings" of the wood are as close to 90 dergrees from its surface. Slowly grown wood with thin "year rings" is recommended.

@@ondrat9790 That's great! I have that same blueprint and book, but I plan to build a longer jouhikko, close to a meter. Because of the string length I will probably have to use dacron strings.

No selevästikkin hevosen häntäjouhia. Muuten sävelkorkeus on epämääränen.
