I TOTALLY see the value of upkeeping at least one journal regularly. Especially different ones that I have for a variety of techniques. I have one for writing only, one for paste ups, one for junk journaling, one for pasting in visuals and practicing my calligraphy with inspirational quotes, and one for illustrations and writing. I keep all of these together in a bag that I've dubbed "my journal tote" so I can pull out whatever I'm feeling, whenever.

That sounds like a really nice setup! I’ve also been keeping all my regular journals in a tote recently and have been loving it! It’s so handy and I find myself reaching for certain journals more often.

I love this. I love the "no rules, THIS is what I feel like today" attitude for journaling. The beauty that's had from that technique/ mindset keeps you open to your individual happiness. The importance of finding that for yourself, I think, is the key to staying happy and in tune with yourself when you need a little more attention/ self love. I keep meaning to ask you, are you related to Chris Oatley of Chris Oatley Academy? *EDIT: You are! What a small world! I'm an illustrator and have followed his podcast for YEARS. He's solely responsible for introducing me to some of the best illustrators out there today. He's such a wealth of information.

All your pages are SO very cute, thanks for sharing Maike! I for one hope you don't give up on your cat comic idea just yet, the year is long! A log for it sounds great to me, but maybe not in a dated book, but rather in a plain notebook with space to also write out ideas and keep sketches? For the gratetude journal maybe letter a quote on the right page, that enhances your feelings of gratitude? 💕 Take care!

Great share! I am also using my weeks as a gratitude journal and then I just collage something small that happened each day on the right side. I love watching it fill up as the week goes by. My 5yr is going great so far as well. Love seeing your journals! Your illustration journal is adorable.

You have inspired me to get my poor neglected hobonichi weeks and use it for artsy entries. It's from last year and I didn't use it but it's such a gorgeous booklet that deserves to be filled. So I might do washes of watercolor and use it for quotes or happy lists. Thank you for the video, it has put me in the mood for Journaling. 🥰
