My daughter marries this weekend. So, I can relate. It’s hard to speak about it because you don’t want the child to feel bad about it. Yet, we as mothers need to naturally walk this season out. I, like you, am very proud of her.

Thank you so much! A great page and I can tell that you must be a great mom! It’s so very difficult to see them leave the nest but as time goes by you get to be proud of the awesome adults that they become. They always will still love their moms!💕

Love the spread. I’ve had one daughter get married last year and one is getting married next month. While it’s a bitter sweet moment for me and I struggle with it a lot sometimes, my best advice would be to take one day at a time. And just let her know how much you love her and support her and enjoy every single second that you can spend with her. Good luck to you both

Imagine my surprise when I bought issue 1 of Simply Lettering and I found a 6-page spread featuring you their resident planner and journaling expert. What a delight. I'm so happy for you that work is going so well. You've inspired me to challenge myself and determine what I could teach, which I really enjoying to do. Congratulations and thank you.

Such a stunning page, my daughter who had just finished university got a job as a teacher in outback Australia (we live in Perth WA) and the week she was to fly out I cried everyday and of course at the airport I cried. I cried every time she left after coming home for school holidays for about a year. Then my son moved over east, I didn't cry at the airport but when I got home i sat in his room and cried. Five years later I don't cry when my daughter leaves anymore and my son has moved back to WA however my daughter is headed your way in January for at least a year to teach and I know for sure that I will be crying then. I am so full of pride watching them grow into adults and start their own journeys they have both had little hiccups along the way and the only person they want then is their mum so some things will never change, after all these years when i feel sick I still want my mum although thats not possible anymore but its such a strong bond we have with our children and it will never go away no matter how old or how far away they live.

Linda in Aus Thank you so much for sharing your experiences Linda. It feels so strange knowing you can’t be there to help them doesn’t it. My daughter is out of the house a lot between college, work and seeing friends, but we always try and eat together in the evening. Seeing that empty space at the table next week will be really hard. I’m so excited for her though and don’t want her to pick up on my feelings. Thank you again and I hope your daughter has a wonderful time in the UK 🤗💕

Lovely pages Helen! I forgot I have gelatos unused in my stash too 😕 must get them out and use them! It’s mixed feelings when your children leave home. Although you’re proud of their achievements you do miss them terribly - especially when the last one goes! We all get over it but the key thing is to always let them know their home is always there for them so they come back again but you never stop worrying about them 💕💕

After watching 5 of my children grow up and leave home, it never gets easier. I always say, "I want a do-over." But having work, or hobbies, or just a full life with purpose, helps. Taking time to write letters and send care packages is also a great way to stay in touch. May you both enjoy the journey!

I am new to journaling. Just started a TN this past February. I have learned a lot of techniques and have not yet quite found my own style that suits me. I love scrapbooking, card making and art journaling so they all show up. I have have tried gelatos over texture past. Wil do so now. Your pages are just lovely.

Beautiful, Helen! It's gonna be alright! It is a bit strange at first when they leave home (I used to keep cooking for 5 for 3 months when Kevin left, for example!). Although Killian and Matthew still miss their brother sometimes, we found our new dynamic. And now Kevin is starting a family of his own! I'm gonna be a grandma in January, which is again a big change! Life is just made of changes I guess! The very best of luck to both on your adaptations. xoxo

Using those items to create a galaxy scene was a fantastic idea, and I love how it all turned out. I do have a question: Once the paste is completely dry, are you concerned that there might be some sticking of the pages together - especially when the humidity is high? Changing subjects here: Your daughter leaving is both exciting and sad, at the same time. One small but significant suggestion I would make is to send her little "Love notes" and "Thinking of you" and "Encouragement" notes every so often. It will help you both to feel "connected" instead of "separated". You probably already know that, but I thought I would just mention it because sometimes we don't think it's that important in this digital age, but it is extremely important. Anyway, congratulations on this next adventure in life for both you and your daughter.

Linda Epstein Thank you so much Linda ☺️ I love the thought of sending handwritten notes and cards, along with a few of her favourite goodies to nibble on perhaps. I really appreciate your response. With the paste, I’ve never had any problems with the pages getting stuck in my art journal, so hopefully they’ll be ok as it has set completely solid. I will definitely keep an eye on it though 🤗💕

Absolutely love the use of watercolours in our journals...how is something so simple so magical to play with? Second only to paper 😀 I think my journal spreads are a bit messier than yours 🙄 I have some paint sticks that are now going to see the light of day..tho' my spreads are a bit more rich red and orange Autumnal at the moment. Well done daughter 👍😀 Hugs, joie ❤️😀🌿

Love the pages! As for your girl leaving for university... it's hard! How far from home will she be? My daughter went to university over 4,000 miles away. It was so hard! Thank goodness for cell phones and texting. The first 2 years, she called me every single day. She loved where she was (University of Hawaii!) and didn't want to come home, but she missed me. As hard as it was to have her so far away, it was very good for her. It forced her to take adulting seriously, since I was too far away to do much for her. She met her husband in her last semester of school, and they stayed in Hawaii for another year after that. Then they moved back to his hometown, just outside of NYC. Now they are in Texas, and have two little girls! And we still talk almost every day. I still hate having her 1,000 miles away, but at least there's not an ocean between us now. Going away is an important step in growing up. As hard as it is to let them go, you have to. You will both be okay, too. :)

Barbie Schwartz Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me Barbie. 4000 miles is a long way! I’m lucky that my daughter will only be 2.5 hours away by train. I know she is completely ready for this new experience and I’m so excited for her. I know it will be the little things I miss the most , but I’m sure we’ll be in contact every day and I hope she has the best time. It’s so hard letting go, but I also understand it’s part of our role. Thank you again 🤗💕

Love the page! And totally understand how you are feeling- my youngest just went off to University so now I have two there and my oldest is already graduated- it's a different phase of life for sure because your parenting is as you said "from a distance"- I just relish the times when they are home and have found some new hobbies to explore. And taking time for things like journaling definitely helps to have a place to jot those feelings down and reflect. Thanks for another great video!!
