Hello from Brazil, Johanna! Watching this video today was a massive joy💗

I’m really enjoying your painting! That water is tricky! It almost looks like a gradient from darker blue to lighter blue as it progresses to the sand with darker blue rivets throughout. Then I noticed it just looked straight up green by the tree line 😮💨. Keep painting!!

This is a very special page, quite different to your usual ones. I have always loved your journal pages, but the art takes it to another level.

I really resonate with what you said at the end. My word of the year is literally 'Become' because I spend a lot of time making plans and daydreaming about all the things I would like to accomplish creatively - instead of actually doing them! At the beginning of this year, I finally started drawing/doodling more because I've always wanted to learn to draw. It feels overwhelming as a beginner, being surrounded by more experienced artists online. But we all have to start somewhere! Really enjoying these recent videos! They're very inspiring, so thanks for sharing! 😊

Thank you so much for sharing your process.

I write down things I want to do. Then I break them down even more. I write them down on simple lists. I usually write these simple lists in the morning. They are actually mixed into my house cleaning or things to do. I don’t write them into a planner because I don’t want to see all the things I didn’t do what I wrote. Love your drawing and journal entry.

Hey Johanna. I really enjoy that you have been tryin to include more painting in your journaling. I know you feel you have room for improvement, as we a feel, but I just wanted to say thank you for the effort to include it more and the explanation as to what you are doing. It has ready helped me in not holding back. I would have a bold idea of what I wanted to create and feel I wasn’t good enough. I know now I can do a rough idea and fill it in, knowing it doesn’t have to be perfect, but if it is colorful and happy, I’m good. Your work is next level, though. Thank you for your positive videos.

Wow, I love how you stayed in the same colors for the page and how that connected everything together. Also the way you shade with the pencils just looks incredible:). And I love how you created the look of rocks under water with the highlights on top of them. A little tip for the water: Try to do as many horizontal lines as possible. The highlights that are in the back are thinner and smaller than the ones in the front (like you did:) ). If you give the water a little bit more of the colors of the background, it will look more like water, too. The water in your picture is as blue because of the deep blue sky. So when you're painting the sky lighter, the water would be lighter, too. I recommend to avoid coast lines that go directly to the viewer's eye. For example try a curved but still very horizontal line that goes back to the left if you're going for a lake kinda shape or just continue to the right if you're painting a river (fading the shade kind of out into a horizontal line). One last thing for when you're finished: I always paint very thin, horizontal lines on the side of the water to the coast line - also where little rocks are looking out of the water. That's where the water breaks, even if it's a calm water without any waves. I love your videos, you inspire me so much for my own journaling. Painting in journals is just the best.

That is a lot of info for a beginning artist! I mean if I were to comment on anything it would be the perspective of the fence, it should look smaller towards the distance. But at the end of the day her picture looks lovely, the colours are cohesive with the rest of the spread, and it’s clear she has artistic talent. So she should be proud of it exactly the way it is!
