Now that you have "let the cat out of the bag" we won't be able to find any journaling jacks anywhere. Another great video and good advice.

They are not "L's". The company is Illinois Iron and Bolt Company(I I & B). I know this is a couple years old but if you are Interested in researching the jack I thought that may help. Thanks.

Have you seen a double screw jack. I found two in my basement from the previous homeowner. One isnt working the other is. They look like they are turned by the flat pointy end of a car lug nut rod. The outer screw is turned by the gear connected to the swivel. The inner screw is turned by hand. These dont have a lot of identifying marks, but look old.

Thanks for the good info! Any idea where I can get a larger higher capacity journaling Jack?

Industrial suppliers like grainger or McMaster. If they don't have it, they might be able to point you in the right direction. Also, your local rent-all might have them. And, It's very common for them to have railroad jacks.

I like the idea of the journaling jack you showed but that jack is considered an emergency jack? I was looking to use the jack to lift the vehicle for maintenance items but not sure if appropriate to use since the intended use is for emergency

I'm still using my 2006 Toyota (Hilux here in South Africa, Takoma in America) Journaling Jack a lot, it came as a standard item on the Toyota. I've lifted a whole kitchen island unit with marble top with the jack. In 15 years never had a punctured tyre.
