I always giggle when people say: “Kruger isn’t wild!” 😅 What an amazing summer-time journey through northern Kruger, Byron. I don’t think you could have done more or better justice to this region of the park. I hope the viewers know just how much skill and dedication it takes to produce a video of this quality - not only capturing all those epic sightings so well, but also recording and adding excellent audio, using great music, taking us along with a solid story and pacing everything perfectly, not to mention keeping your spirits up (and shirts dry 😂) in those temperatures! It’s a masterpiece! Don’t let anything stand in your way to keep living this dream…

Thank you, Villiers! Means a lot coming from you 🙏🏼 I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. What a place! That heat was ridiculous but I’m sure it’s nothing compared to the Kalahari recently 😂
@TheSafariExpert11 ай бұрын
@@WildWildJourneys, I find that the heat (and everything that it causes) kills my mojo when I’m filming, so I have to dig deep to head out and make things work. That’s why I say, kudos for keeping your spirits high! I 100% believe that nature rewards hard work and that good things happen to good people. Your 5000 lions are a testament to that 😎

@TheSafariExpert oh I hear you on having to dig deep in that heat! Those 5000 lion sightings really taught me a lot - super grateful…

Wow, I‘m blown away. One reason is your fantastic story telling. The other reason is: I‘ve been to the area a number of times and you captured the essence of it perfectly. It does something to my mind and, by the sound of it, to yours as well. And yes, it can have brutal temperatures outside, or pouring down, but I can‘t wipe that smile off my face, taking it all in. Thank you for this wonderful video, Byron.

@@WildWildJourneys Very difficult to explain indeed. I often get asked "why are you going there again?". But how can you describe something that resonance deep within? Byron - I got a bit behind and missed this one when it first came out but am so glad I got caught up. This episode is simply brilliant! Your storytelling, filmography and editing have all come so far since you started this journey with your channel and it all came together with this episode. It’s so well written and composed….just magic. We have only been north of Shingwedzi once and just loved it. Unfortunately, with only two weeks every other year to visit for now we have to prioritize our time where our chances are best so we tend to stay south of Letaba but soon we will have more time and can’t wait to get back up there. This video was really spectacular, Byron. A cinematic masterpiece indeed. You really told my story in this video, such deep resonance. I also did a self reflection Kruger trip this December. With lots of journaling and facing myself. What started off as incredibly difficult also progressed into sheer beauty. I did 8 nights at Maroela camp and was also very fortunate to spot the Birmingham pride. I didn't see the white cub, but I did see the white Lioness. She definitely needs to be named! I spent a full day at camp facing myself on 13 December, then jumped in the car at 18h15 just to go get firewood, and that's when I saw the white Lioness 😅 It was the most special sighting in my life, but i couldn't hold it together and video it too well 🙈 I'm definitely going to edit the videos soon and start my channel too. Thanks again for all the effort you put into this.

Howsit Byron! Just happened to doom scroll onto this vid you’ve published. 😂 You convey your message in a very minimalistic and pure way with your storytelling just being the cherry ontop! Great sense of humour 😅I’ve been a creator for sometime now and I really appreciate watching you own your unique style. I also understand the effort that goes into this with its ups and downs. The post production is so stimulating but at the same time so tedious especially when you want to remain consistent to try build momentum 🥵 burn out is real as a KZbinr. Hence the reason I’ve tried to produce my long forms in the most effective way with the least amount of post work behind the scenes, because I just couldn’t keep up. I wish the Tube can give well crafted content like this more credit in its algorithm because it deserves it! We’ve got the same idea. The same style in my mind plays off. The question I ask myself is how many hours on n chair should I spend for peanuts when I’ve put my heart and soul in for days? At the end it feels like it merely becomes like you say a journal for me to look back on one day and feel proud of what I’ve seen and experience out there. Is it to push for the passive income or is it to create a story for me to look back on one day?🤔 Both I guess! One day when we are ballies we will look back on this and feel proud! I don’t say these kinda things in the public much but keep going and you shall reap thy fruit bud! You’ve got another subscriber for life today! Maybe il catch you out there one day during our quest to conquer this mother of a Kruger! Cheers from Marlothpark 🇿🇦🙏🏻

Howzit Christof! Firstly thanks for the awesome feedback - it's extra meaningful coming from a fellow creator in this field. You definitely get it... I have similar experiences. I'm only 10 months into the video creation thing and already experienced proper burnout this last month. Managing time, productivity, creativity, health, etc. is not easy. I'm now trying to focus more on giving value without expecting anything in return as a main form of fulfilment and anything received from it will be a bonus, wether thats income, other doors being opened... Will see how that goes I like the idea of having these creations on record to look back on one day! Thanks so much again man I've also subscribed. Would be great to bump into you out there in our happy place! Cheers from JHB - about get stuck into more editing on this public holiday 😆

@@WildWildJourneys 😂importing into final cut as we speak! Thanks for the reply bud appreciate it. You will find the balance that will work for you and other doors will definitely open. I’m a big believer of quality over quantity and that’s been good to me over the years. It’s an ongoing learning process that’s everything but easy, but all worth it. Keep knocking on the door! Cheers for now! 🍻🙏🏻🇿🇦

Amazing as always… what camera do you use, and do you use anything to stabilize shots?
@WildWildJourneys11 ай бұрын
Thanks David! I use a Canon R6 with a 70-200mm and a 100-500mm. All of this was handheld with stabilizing mostly added in the editing process. I do need some kind of stabilizer out there though...

What is the bird in the background that starts at 51:08 as the elephants cross the road?

There’s a Woodland Kingfisher calling as well as a Cape-turtle Dove and I think a Sabota Lark there too 👍🏼

Lovely video shots but many spoilt by background music which is blotting out animal and bird natural sounds. Sorry can't think of appropriate word but mean real sounds like elephants drinking.
@WildWildJourneys11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Carol. Will definitely keep it in mind and I agree, would love more natural sounds of nature. Most clips do have either wind noise or a car running in the background etc, but I’m also working towards a better mic one day to help with that 👍🏼
