After half a year on the practice chanter, I picked up the real bagpipes and first was dismayed to discover that I hardly was able to get a sound out of them. I thought that what is it, do I not have enough strength in my hands? Then it occurred to me that I should look up on KZbin if girls are also playing bagpipes and found the videos of The Snake Charmer, The Phantom Piper and the Dame of Thrones. Since they did very well, and especially because the Snake Charmer girl had managed to learn to play the bagpipes while living in India and corresponding with her teacher in Scotland online, I concluded that it must be possible and muscle strength is not the issue. Now I have played the pipes for over a year and am finally beginning to succeed well with the tuning and playing and am ready to play a few simpler tunes in the public and do better and better, by the grace of God. So thank you very much for the encouragement!

I posted a comment a long while back about how amazing this video was because I just love it so much, but I also didn't do my homework... I said it would be better if the music matched them blowing into the bagpipes... I didn't know that the bag held air already and they didn't need to blow into it at the same time the sound came out. I can't find my comment now to retract or edit it, but I'm sorry I ever posted that now that I know. I have watched this video more times than any other video in my life, (many more actually) and I love a LOT of videos. Somewhere, Neil Schon has to have an enormous, toothy grin on his face that’ll *never* go away 😁! (My face, too! 😁❤️) As far as upcoming episodes of Rock the Pipes 😎❤️😁, you’re headed in the right direction with harmony-leads 🥰 - lotta directions to go there, but I would suggest a group very much known for high, tight harmonies - Boston 😎❤️😁! Don’t go for the obvious, like “More Than a Feeling” (although that would be glorious, don’t get me wrong 🙂) … … take a listen to “Hitch a Ride”, also on that first album 🥰! The outro-solos in particular have that high, lonesome, keening wail that the pipes are just *made* for!😁❤️😎 Trust me, you three can go absolutely *bonkers* on this🤪😁😎!
