Fascinating. I was the junior of three faculty who founded then-Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, so the late John Rodgers was my senior colleague. Two years later I started teaching a course on classic spirituality under the rubric “prayer”. This came from my own encounter with the tradition in Germany four years earlier. I also encountered the Catholic Church in nearby Steubenville just after I had been ordained an Episcopal priest in 1979. I resonated with his journey, especially since my wife and in part me were counselors (my basic profession was biblical scholar). On the other end of his journey now, 8 years after becoming a Catholic priest, we are helping to support a Ukrainian refugee in Poland (whom we knew from when we lived and taught in Austria) and a self-supporting Ukrainian pastor who had been my student and still lives in the Ukraine. Love St John Paul II, although due to my German experience I resonate deeply with the late Pope Benedict XVI.

Dr. Tory Baucum is doing very important work. I'm glad he and his colleagues are getting recognition, especially in this current climate of all the bad news coming out of public schools. What a great tribute to JP2's ministry he is.

Lol dr. "back-um" Just a giggle, ...it's pronounced "baw-combe" Its a mispelling of 'balcombe' (bal-koom) (sussex, england) Source: distant cousin "balkom" (Balcom, balkom, baucom, etc)
