I can personally relate to this woman's testimony as our backgrounds are almost a carbon copy. Today, I am so thankful for the Catholic Church and how it has attracted me back to the faith. I have experienced such healing within my soul, and have found such blessing participating in each Mass today. It is the peace that passes all understanding, and I am eternally grateful for God's amazing grace and His beautiful sacraments. Thank you for your sharing! 👍🙏🙂

41:30 as a Cradle Catholic I have not experienced the challenge Christ mentions in Mt.10:73, but most certainly He will reward you for this hard decision Deb. And if I may say, the difficulty for your mom accepting that the Lord has brought you to the Catholic Church for exactly following him and her being supportive about it, may also be a reward for her as she is not going against God’s will for you. May God bless you and your whole family!

How can someone who claims to 'know the Bible' can't see LITURGY commanded by God already in Exodus? How can someone who claims to 'know the Bible' cannot see the pattern of preaching and feeding in Jesus's own actions? How can someone who claims to 'know the Bible' not have read how Revelation shows a vision of heaven - and it's the MASS? I think Protestants confuse 'memorizing Bible passages' with 'understanding scripture on its own terms, in context.' A parrot can memorize scriptures; it doesn't mean that the parrot understands what it means.

I hope this woman finds the Traditional Latin Mass which is the proper Catholic Mass. A High Mass on a Sunday is heaven on earth! Totally inspiring.

We are spiritual Israel. The Old Testament Israel either became followers of Christ or rejected God. This is what Doctors of the Church and ecumenical councils that have declared dogma have always understood.

But the Catholic Church has small Christian communities that have been around for decades ....more than 1/2 a century. Why did/ does the guest not join one of these?

We accept anyone who can hold a note, playing an instrument is the free pass to heaven . I avoid the sign of the peace, ots disruptive midway thru the concecration of the host and its straight out of the anglican service. I like statues flowers holywater and insence and rituals vestments votive candles. Gregoruan chant .i like the latin mass and the sspx. I read sermins online to analyse the gospel/ bible readings. I never take communion from a eucharistic minister. . Priests do their best.

The sign of peace does not come in the middle of the consecration. The Consecration happens when the priest repeats the words of Christ at the Last Supper. And the Consecration is not 'straight out of the Anglican service,' since it dates from the 4th century, before there was Anglicanism. In other rites of the Church the kiss of peace took on different forms. Joseph Jungmann explains in The Mass of the Roman Rite how, “Among the East Syrians it is customary for each one to clasp the hands of his neighbor and kiss them. Among the Maronites the faithful clasp the neighbor’s fingers with their own, then kiss the latter. Even more reserved are the Copts, who merely bow to their neighbor and then touch his hand.” The Apostolic Constitutions, a document written in the 4th century, instructs that after the Prayer of the Faithful, “let the bishop salute the church, and say, The peace of God be with you all. And let the people answer, And with your spirit; and let the deacon say to all, Salute one another with the holy kiss.” This is BIBLICAL: St Paul instructed the Corinthians to 'greet one another with a holy kiss' (2 Cor 13:12). Furthermore, the Eucharist is the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity no matter WHO passes it to you - priest or Eucharistic minister. (I by no means approve of armies of 'extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist' being the norm, or ordinary.) Shunning Christ in the Eucharist because of the person who is offering it to you, is still shunning Christ in the Eucharist. It doesn't make you holier to receive from the hands of a priest; the Host is still 100% Christ whether a priest or Eucharistic minister is distributing the Host. You have some mixed up ideas and probably could use some good, solid, Catholic teaching. Flowers, holy water, incense, vestments, candles, etc., should not be more important than charity and love of neighbor - or indeed, obedience to the rubrics of the Mass and the instruction of the priest to 'offer one another the sign of peace.'

Jesus didn't hold a door in his hands and say, 'This is my body.' He DID hold a piece of bread in his hands and say, 'This is my body.' Honestly, I wonder how all these self-styled 'Bible Christians' can be so blind and clueless and simply NOT UNDERSTAND human language, still less understand what they are reading in the Bible. It's like they have to reject Christianity first, and then having rejected Christian doctrine, they then need to blind themselves to the meaning of Scripture and torture scripture to 'be logical' (if you just reject the plain sense) so it fits your created theory - and then call THAT Christianity. And if that doesn't work, then do a Luther and just rip books out of the Bible that don't conform to your delusions. My brain melts trying to reverse engineer my mind to think so senselessly. It's like it's not about TRUTH, it's about hanging out with people, friends, little groups, pot-lucks, socializing... I will NEVER understand how you just have to shut your eyes to so much reality (history, Scripture, SENSE) to be Protestant, rip up and ignore and gloss over so much of the Bible while calling yourself 'Bible Christians.' And the contradiction just doesn't seem to register.

A Communion service, not a Eucharistic service, looks very much like a Mass but is presided over by a deacon or layperson rather than a priest, because it does not have a moment of consecration, which only the priest can perform. At a Communion service, you will not hear the words, "This is my body. … This is my blood. … " Instead, the deacon or layperson distributes hosts that have been consecrated at a Mass, then stored in the tabernacle until needed. Communion services are very common in areas where there are few priests. Even in the U.S., Communion services may occur on Sundays and weekdays in rural and mountain states such as Idaho, where there is a shortage of priests and Catholics are widely dispersed.

It’s funny how differently different people perceive the same situation. I have worked many years with RCIA and there are many converts who appreciated the fact that they were “left alone” when they first came to Mass. Other churches were too intrusive. They felt pressured, pushed in many Protestant churches. They liked that Catholics were there to worship God, not to socialize.

Has this woman had ANY formation in the Catholic Faith? The liturgy isn't 'the same' - it's the eternal sacrifice; it is heaven on earth. Someone, please, explain Catholicism to this woman! A deacon doesn't celebrate a 'wedding Mass' 'without the Eucharist.' That's a marriage outside of the Mass. A Protestant who doesn't know the liturgy or even like it is providing music for the Mass? It's not an 'entrance song' and 'exit song' - processional and recessional. And the four-song sandwich is from Protestantism, not the music of the Mass. I feel so sorry for American Catholics if this is the level they have to settle for in their parish churches. How sad. Piano (percussion instruments) do not belong in the Mass. The Mass has no 'tempo' - it is chanted, no beat, tempo, no TIME, because the Mass takes us outside of time to the eternal Marriage Feast of the Lamb in heaven, where there is no time I'm so glad I live in a Catholic country that hasn't had the Church McDonaldized down to something cheap and tacky and plastic and protestantized. Why are they talking about lay people doing 'ministry'? Only ordained ministers do ministry; lay people do apostolate. There's a Catholic language for these things, and it's not the same as the Protestant language where everyone is his own pope and the guy who changes the toilet paper is a 'minister' of something.
