All the videos in this series have really been great. I started metal detecting in southern Arizona in 1980 when I was 12 years old. Fun seeing the countryside again. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

I first heard about the desert tanks in some Louis L' amore Westerns. I actually went and hiked to the Tule and High tanks (Tinajas). What a magnificent experience. The Ambient quiet of the desert is so calming and comforting. Thanks for taking me back, thirty plus years...

I always loved the desert. The sunsets are stunning and the colors are just so different from anywhere else that I've ever lived.

That too! I was raised in the Northeast and was never more than a few miles from civilization. The first time I was in the desert, it was absolutely spooky. Nothing in any direction for miles and miles. I was more than a little uncomfortable. But after a while, I got to where I really liked the solitude. So much so I'd go for long drives and find an overlook and just sit and watch nature do its thing.

Cool and informative video. When you were calling to the bighorn, you got my coonhound barking. (Then he continued at the end, alerted to the songdogs!!) I was glad you found the family of 8, and nice that the Border Patrol is keeping an eye on you. I know in parts of TX, the ranchers have all kinds of problems with "bad hombres" who can do damage and cause mas problemas. I love your adventures on the road.. nothing worse than being with someone who just wants to "get there in a hurry" and never stop to explore. After all, "we may never pass this way again."

Wow, that brought back a lot of memories. I went through grade school and high school living in Casa Grande, AZ. It's not a long drive from the Ed Camino Del Diablo trail you are on. Lots of memories about camping and hiking in the desert. Here is a desert hiking hack for you. Put a small pebble of something similar under your tongue. It will help keep your mouth from drying out. Great videos, thank you!

Thank you for what was a truly informative little documentary and for finding and showing the family of 8. They may have died but they are remembered and now their story will be known by many more people. Thanks for the ride along, your brother even got in shot for a while there too! Charlie UK

When we used to drive in the desert at night going to camping trips as a kids, rabbits used to run into the road and slam into the tires. I think they get attracted to the head lights and hit the tires.

Thanks for another great video, Chig. I'm really enjoying this series. It takes me back to my youth. I made the same trek 40+ years ago, alone (dumb), in an old jeep. There were many fewer Border Patrol Officers back then. It's still a beautiful run! Thanks for sharing.

As your no. 1 fan , and long time subscriber I respectfully would like to suggest, ( now think about this ) ; maybe on your river adventures you could add narration as we are watching. It could be very informative or could be funny but it would definitely be interesting. Just a thought, you already have some of the best videos out there and thanks for turning me on to all these other relic hunters ,keep up the good work .

There used to be an original diamond-shaped Auto Club of Southern California mileage sign at Tule Well. Vintage 1915 or so. It disappeared around 1994. Some low-life probably has it on his garage wall in Tustin.

Time to buy a drone Chig
@MerAngel121216 жыл бұрын
Tony, I'm thinkin' that even if he tried to use a drone out there on federal land that it would malfunction and it would go down because they do not want drones out there. Dr Tones and other detectorists, as well as abandoned explorers have lost their drones out in those areas. The fact that the military has done numerous exercises out there over the decades, might be the reason they wouldn't want any type of quad copter out there, eh? Having a camera on them means what we can see on a camera, of course can also be seen by others. It would most certainly interfere with their well laid plans to nab the bad Ombres.
6 жыл бұрын
Tony Dowd can't use them on federal land, he should carry a walkie-talkie though.
@tonydowd85666 жыл бұрын
Maybe can't use a drone here, but it would certainly be beneficial in many future videos.
