I miss that door open chime they added during refurbishment

one 5 car unit is the Metropolitan line's current RAT, with others in storage to jump in and take over if it fails. It currently resides at Neasden depot and comes out mainly during the autumn and winter months to spread a sandy mixture on the rails for better traction. Other D Stock units are working on other rail network operators around the UK. Miss the D Stock when they operated on the District Line.

did you guys notice the “Please mind the gap between the train and the platform” is the exact same as the one on the Central Line?

I miss these classic D78 trains 😢. The new stock rolled out dosnt give me the spirit of the district line anymore. Why did they scrap these trains, that d78 stock was perfect. 😭

I kinda wish they stayed for atleast 20 more years

yeah I don't really understand it, they had plenty of life left in them they didn't need to be scrapped

Yeah, I miss the D-Stock, but they were converted into the Class 484 on the Island Line.
@jacksugden81903 жыл бұрын
They were so much nicer than those lousy S7’s that currently occupy the line, I remember the D78 class when new, would ride them to Upminster.
@wisehat_yt3 жыл бұрын
you can’t lie, the S stocks are better
@jacksugden81903 жыл бұрын
@@wisehat_yt I remember pre D78 tube stock, they were either red or silver, think the S7 stock irritating with its door buzzers and hard seating, the PA’s are far too loud, a female station names, then a male “Please mind the gap between the train and platform” on long distance far too much. S8’s were slightly better with their forward facing seats, but irritating based upon my comments about the S7 stock.
@wisehat_yt3 жыл бұрын
@@jacksugden8190 fair enough the only reason why i think it’s better is mainly because of the aircon and… well that’s about it tbh if the D stock had aircon also then i would prefer the D stock
@jacksugden81903 жыл бұрын
@@wisehat_yt D stock had long loading alighting times due to their single leaf doors, they were in poor condition and too old for LU to invest in, plus they wanted train sets with the same sized wheels that they could transfer from one line to another.
@jacksugden81903 жыл бұрын
@@wisehat_yt I was never that keen on air-con trains, same issue on those new TfL Rail and Overground trains, had to get up and move due to the cold .

Blackfriars is certainly much better, although the platforms look rather thin to me compared to other stations. When the station becomes a major interchange again it will probably get quite busy on those platforms.

Blackfriars is great, but the Mainline platforms are so long, you have to run so much from the barriers from the Tube on the Southbound to get to the rear of a 4 car mainline. Thats the only complaint I have about Blackfriars.
