Very good video I remember going on the District line many times as a kid riding these D stock trains good childhood memories unfortunately there not on the underground but most of them have been saved and are on LNWR Bedford to Bletchley and soon SWR Isle of Wight line

Same, this is actually our local line to be honest. We remember taking them when they were unrefurbished especially on school trips where would take a refurbished train into London and an unrefurbished train back. Can't lie D stock was one of the major refurbishments London Undergroound did. The D stock could have stayed for another 10 years to be honest as they look more modern in contrast to the other tube stocks and well maintained but TFL wanted to standardise the subsurface stock.

To be honest, the S stock was originally planned to have a batch dedicated to the District Line with green poles and slightly different flooring to match the color theme, and it was also meant to be transversal but then never happened as London Underground wanted to keep it standardised.

@@kk-transport Yh the D stock refurbishments made the trains look more modern than they did and they probably would have still been in service if it wasn't for S stock

@@kk-transport it would have been good if the S stock was in different pole colours Yellow circle Pink Hammersmith and city Purple metropolitan District green

Yeah, we literally travelled on these during childhood. Remember these when they were silver and the interior was all orange and brown

I did manage to ride them before they retire. Awesome, will catch them again in either the Midlands or Wales as they're now serving.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I can never get used to Sarah Parnell's voice... 😖 Hope to visit the UK again to try out the buses and trains when the coronavirus is lessened. Stay sate, Keseyap! I've subscribed :)

Miss these trains, they were my favourites! They had so much character, loved riding on them. I think its great that some were saved but think the IOW ones could have remained the same as they were with a refurb, didn't see why they were changed but still can't complain , think VivaRail did an amazing job! Thanks for posting this video :)

@@kk-transport late reply but yes, not in the silver livery but the most recently district line refurb, I used to travel on the D78s a lot, I miss them! 😥
