This is the first time I have heard any travel guitar sound good, let alone similar to a full-size instrument. Kudos to Journey for an engineering marvel. Add to that the removable neck on the Overhead and you've got a fly-date instrument that would be hard to beat. I'd love to hear you compare either of these to a full-size and dreadnought acoustics. Thumbs up from me!

Loved the James Taylor openings at 4:50+ and 7:00+ (I'm sure that dates me). Cool guitars, and surprisingly (to me) alike in tone. Only on the arpeggios did I notice a difference - the Overhead seemed a little brighter. They look like they're about half the size of my Ovations (I'm exaggerating), but they pack really nice tone into those small packages.

Have you ever played a Voyage-Air Guitar? The neck folds on those, using a special hinge mechanism, plus a capture mechanism at the nut, all of which limits the extent to which the strings could flop around while the guitar is undone. I've had one for years, and love it.

This would be perfect to take on the road when I go with my hunny over the road in an 18 Wheeler. Space is limited in those things. Even though I have a little Martin it still takes up a good amount of space as well as my Baritone Ukulele. This would be perfect with the collapsible neck. I was fearful of a sudden stop that would throw my instruments around and suffer damage or break the neck even in their gig bags. I would love to own this AWESOME sounding guitar! Lows are a little more resounding on the Junior than the Overhead. The Overhead sounds great for a travel guitar. Both sound great.

I really want this now. I only travel a few times per year but I always want a guitar with me and I rarely get to take one due to how much of a nightmare it is to fly with a guitar these days. This is the highest quality guitar I've seen in the market. I'm going to enter to win it!

i've heard of people doing just that with solid bodies. you can keep the strings in place with a capo and then maybe a wire tie, and then put it in your carry-on

You mention the specs. Are those two guitars essentially the same except for the piezo and the fixed neck. Are there any other upgrade / quality differences? They sound pretty much identical to me. However, the difference in price is huge.

Darrell Braun Sir, great video and really awesome playing man!! Really!! I wish we were on the same side of the Atlantic, we'd hook up with some real lessons and sharpen up my acoustic skills brother!! First thing I want to say, is acoustic guitars and electric guitars make their sound in two completely different ways. Because of that, you can grab 2 identical Fender Strat American standards, and only the most super discerning ears are going to hear any differences. But on acoustic guitars, even the highest priced Taylors in identical models, made side by side, there are going to be differences in tone. My ears hear a bit more bright on the overhead model, and I watched the video twice with headphones on, than the Junior, but both sounded great. I can't say that the quick release had anything to do with the tonal differences. As for the Overhead being "almost" in tune, an interesting thing would be to see if a little more tightening or loosening, made any differences to the pitch. Regardless, any time you pick up an instrument, the very first thing you do is check the tuning. But most likely the differences in the sound between the two, over KZbin at least, is most likely some tiny micro millimeter differences in the thickness of the sound boards. The other thing I want to say, I clicked the link and went to their page, and I am literally shocked at the prices!! Holy Cow those are low for what you're getting!! I already have 2 parlor sized guitars with Spruce tops, and 2 dreadnoughts with cedar tops. I've always wanted a Grand Auditorium with a Spruce top... and what do you know!! They have it!! Or perhaps will soon. It's on the kickstarter program. But at $770, that's a straight up steal!! Hmmm... Darrell I wonder if your discount code will work on a kickstarter project ;) I am going to be getting this guitar. But I'll have it sent to my Sister's house in Reno, Nv and pick it up next time I fly home, then carry it back with me when I fly back here. Otherwise Customs, Shipping to Europe and the dreaded VAT tax of 19% on everything including just "thinking of buying it" will easily push this up over 1,100 euros which is right now about $1,250. Not worth it when I'll be heading home around Feb or March anyway, if the Doctors clear me to fly with my heart bypass... Thanks Darrell for being big enough and good enough in the YT community to get these kinds of opportunities to review the diamonds along with the dogs, in new products. Haven't seen many dogs yet though. You must screen carefully ;) Anyway, thanks again brother!! Think maybe while I have their website tab open, I'll check out some of the carbon fiber acoustics. Yep Darrell I'm talking to Bailey Rob over there at Journey right now. Gonna pull the trigger on this I do believe brother! But on the larger GA size. I've been in the market for another acoustic for about 6 months now, and just really couldn't find a GA that didn't cost over 1500 euros ($1700) that sounded like a real guitar. With the capo on the 6th fret I can hear some differences, the Junior has more definition in the bass frequencies, by a small amount anyway. Great comparison, I love how tiny they are but boy do they sound big

Hi! The OH is slightly warmer (less treble) overall than the Junior. The Junior has a little more "sparkle" in the high-end. Both are fairly similar in the bass frequencies.

Probably too late with this, but check your backpack/gigbag for the "low" saddle Journey includes for those preferring lower action. That's right - they give you 2 saddles (but they don't tell you about it).

The one thing that I REALLY HATE about acoustic guitar companies is the installation of the strap button on the treble side of the neck heel. The most uncomfortable spot to put a strap button. I won't buy a guitar with a strap button pre-installed.

Thanks! The KLOS is way smaller and lighter - it's really built for outdoor adventures. The Journey guitars are thicker, wider, and longer, but sound much more like a regular size guitar :)
