Are you freakin' kidding me!! Whether you like Journey and their music or not, this is a monumental transcendent vocal performance. Perry's performance is astounding, emotional, full of control, an artist at the top of his game. This is top-notch singing. Little wonder why this guy has been revered for decades as a singer. Just wow.

That right there is why Steve Perry is known as "The Voice". Nobody else then or now can touch the purity of his vocals. Certainly no one today without the help of auto tune and even then they wouldn't get anywhere near it

no other male vocalist has ever combined phrasing, tone, and range at a level anywhere near to Steve Perry... I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, WHO'S CRYING NOW by Journey, and AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and keep on rocking.

I Listen to Steve Perry sing Everyday! I re-discovered him about a month ago after attending a Journey concert in Honolulu with my daughter who said the original singer was much better. than the new person. So I came home and looked him up on the Internet and have been hooked ever since,! I remember hearing the songs but my life was so busy that I never really got into the band "Journey" or the lead singer Now after hearing Steve Perry and seeing him perform I am Amazed at how Talented he is. I have watched all his interviews and Admire the person he is and I see him as a Beautiful special human being Blessed with the most memorable voice. I never tire of hearing him or seeing him. I am anxiously waiting for the promised new album, I Love Steve Perry, he makes my day when I hear that beautiful voice, !!!

Hi, Dianne, I had a "stupid" obsession with Steve as a teen at thirteen and fourteen, which I later "outgrew". Although there was always a soft spot in my heart for Stone in Love, even through my folk-country-bluegrass phase. When I found out last December (2018), that Steve had a new album out at age 69, I flipped and bought it. So, here I am, wondering why I ever stopped! And on this particular video, that crescendo at 1:08 just nails my heart! Have never seen them with Arnel. I feel bad for him, because SP is one, one in a million and maybe fifty years or a hundred years from now, there will be another singer who sounds just like him, but not in our time.

I think we are the same age and I sometimes feel that way too but remember, it was much harder to get concert tickets than it is today. We didn't have the Internet and ease of information and ability to buy tickets. Who had a credit card? I didn't! You really had to know someone who did and someone who could drive you to the show. Most of us that did drive, drove our parents' cars who wouldn't let us drive into cities. This is pre-GPS too! I feel like you do and I think about how lucky kids are today but their music isn't as good as what we had in the 80s. Shows were really an event and yes, NO CELL PHONES! We used to flick our lighters. lol

Perry's best performances are in Japan. I think because they traveled there last and wasn't worn out, he was warmed up. 79-83, in Japan, Perry's best performances.
