Millau viaduct. Designed by an English man. Stunning bridge with the clear barriers giving a good view of the Tarn valley. We also made a point of stopping off there on our way south a few years ago.

Love your channel and delighted, having just come back from our summer holiday, to see you've uploaded a new holiday series which we're already using to plan our first road trip to France next summer! Les Loges looks a good stop-off campsite. Best wishes.

@richardocallaghan5309 Hi, Richard, thank you for your kind words. I have about 2 or 3 more vlogs to share on this year's French trip. I just need to find the time to edit and upload. It's what we love about not planning any of our stops and using the ACSI app. We have found some great little Gems, Happy Camping James

Great advice thanks. I wasn’t expecting the driving experience to be better in France however that makes me very happy as the UK has been quite a challenge at times.

@CarlH-r6v No problem, Avoid Paris, and all is fine, so much more relaxed than the UK. I am not saying you won't get Roadworks and Hold ups, but they are very few and far between.

Great video, just one thing if you are going to dover not the tunnel. As you cross Dartford bridge/tunnel try taking the A2/M2 to Canterbury then on to dover that way you miss operation brock. Only services is on the M2 called medway services. All dual carriageway out 3 lanes. Try it next time?

Thank youbyes we came back, Via A2/M2, I don't know why I didn't really. I used to use that way all the time in the 80s and 90s when I came home on leave from Germany.Thanks for the reminder

We love Aire De Baie de Somme too! Can't always justify routing via Kent instead of Portsmouth Caen ferry though, never found another Aire quite like this one on that route..

@@CaravanEscapades101 I saw that on the video, it certainly looks great, I have just never ventured that far south, you appeared to do it in a fairly decent time which, given that you started at Calais I was quite surprised by!

I loved this. You’ve obviously been to France a few times with the caravan. We’ve been a few times when our kids were young or B&B but never towing, it makes us nervous. Would you consider doing a top tips vlog for going to France with a caravan? It would be much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Hi, Thank you. I have been going in the Caravan since the 1970s when my parents took us. 😁. Yes, what a great idea for a vlog. if you give me a few weeks to get others edited and uploaded, I will get one put together. if i can give you some reassurance, it is so much easier towing over there that it is I the UK.😁

We have just come back from our two week France caravan trip, it is pretty similar to planning a trip in the UK to be honest, the biggest tip I can give is don't overdo it with the driving, it's easy to look at a map and plan a few hundred miles drive but doing a continuous 90kph drive is very draining, especially if (like us) there is only one driver, I find that anything over 200 - 250 miles is just too long, id probably do around 250-300 miles if the Mrs towed as well. Also, look at satellite view on Google maps to find how to get from the motorways to the campsites, some roads are extremely narrow, especially with a caravan, plan stopover sites that are within a couple of miles of motorways as well. Driving on the wrong side and navigating roundabouts etc is simple, you don't even think about it after a couple of minutes. Biggest considerations are where in the UK you are from as that can obviously dictate the best port to sail from (unless using Eurotunnel), which then dictates where in France you arrive (Calais, Cherbourg, St Malo, etc) and then where in France you want to end up, we live in the midlands and drive to Poole (sleep in the lanes overnight) then catch the ferry to Cherbourg, drive about 150 miles for a stopover of a couple of nights, then drive another couple of hundred miles to Vendée, we have been further (Royan, Hourtin etc) but generally, the Vendée region has everything you need (nice weather, nice beaches, loads of campsites). It is well worth doing and once you have tried it, you will probably go more often or try further afield

The majority of the vehicles in the 'caravan' parking at Stansted looked like campervans and motorhomes to me, which are perfectly acceptable in 'caravan' areas on UK service stations.
@CaravanEscapades101
@CaravanEscapades101 3 ай бұрын
Hi Yes I realised that when I looked back at the Video's. However only one was a Campervan all the rest were commercial Vans, Agreed Caravan Slots should be shared with Campervans and Motorhomes. 🙂
