I have travelled all over the world with this cd. Literally have been listening to it for years and it never gets old. Ever.

I remember searching through some online vendor of CDs for new age music and I came upon this. For some reason i was compelled to buy it and I didn't know who Adham was. It's now my favorite album of all time...

Consciousness has always existed and will always exist. Time is infinite. Everything is a cycle. We are all an integral part of the fabric of 'the one'. We are born, we age, we die and we are born again in another form. There is no 'us' we are just a localised version of the infinite consciousness exploring what it's like here for a while. A rare and unique privilege indeed.

"Indigenous music throughout the world vividly captures, in intense clarity, all that humanity has experienced and come to understand. Without the burden of words, music can record and convey the spiritual evolution of human cultures through the ages. To me, India represents one aspect of this evolution. The music on this album is a fusion of our own western technology, with the tribal mysticism of an ancient civilization on the brink of modernization. My trip to India was initially a quest to explore and capture new sounds -- discovering and integrating textures not common to western music, the tonal complexity of eastern scales acutely balances western electronic production and modulation techniques -- resulting in a truly magical blend of sound. I have attempted to musically convey my journey through India including the rich bright colours that I encountered, as well as the kindness and warmth of all the wonderful people I met." Adham Shaikh, 1995

Journey to the Sun, 12:18 had a profound effect on me as a boy growing up to a man. Really just touches the nerves. I relate to the notion that there are " shadow shapes" illuminating across the walls as we wake to each new day.

Still among the myriad microwaves, the infra-red messages, the gigabytes of ones and zeroes, we find words, infinitesimally small, byte-sized now, tinier even than science lurking in some vague electricity where, if we listen we can hear the solitary voice of that poet telling us, "We are no other than a moving row Of Magic shadow-shapes that come and go Round with the Sun-illumined Lantern hold In Midnight by the Master of the show." "The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it." "Yesterday This Day's Madness did prepare; Tomorrow's Silence, Triumph or Despair: Drink! for you know not whence you came, nor why: Drink! for you know not why you go, nor where." Omar Khayyám The Rubáiyát

Possibly the most beautiful album ever... Can't almost listen to it without realizing I had this album for almost 20 years...the harsh truth is that my youth is far behind me and I am starting to grow a little older, Makes listening too these beautiful songs a bit sad :_(

I think you almost HAVE to be older to appreciate the deeply spiritual, mystical ambience to this album: the chanting in the background, the classic sitar-like sounds, the feeling of being in both deep space AND on Earth ( possibly in India? ), all sums up the unconscious and nonconscious experiences of a lifetime...

You have wrong perception of India...most people don't care for "the unconscious and nonconscious experiences of a lifetime" - they struggle for life.

His use of running and bubbling water drives me up the wall. I know some people enjoy it. But it makes me want to punch someone in the face. It's like listening to someone chew with their mouth open...
