Edited from various sources, this video looks at the journey of Deen Castronovo. He reflects on his life and how drugs and alcohol affected his world forever. It was shown at IMPACT, the high school student ministry at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Orange, CA during their "Addicted" series in October 2018.

Ha! What, he wants a merit badge for apologizing for rape and going on a psychotic, assault filled drug rage tripout?! He apologized because he wants his gig back. He’s a highly talented guy who didn’t need to get that deep down the road into that shit. He’s highly lucky he got back his gig. He’ll probably screw up again. Needs serious treatment.

jemsar2 he was on a flight once with non existent closet space. He had a drum with him and needed it stored. I figured it out, rearranged a few things etc before I recognized who he was. I even asked- are you in a band or something? LOL When he said his name I about passed out. He was so appreciative and really kind to the crew. Hope he is able to get his life on track.

I played drums in a band that opened up for Bad English when they had the hit "When I see You Smile" The first night on tour, I sat behind Dean and watched him. The second night, I could barely play because of what brilliance i had seen the first night. He is amazing! He was really nice to me on tour, the few times we talked. When I got home I started shedding on what I had learned from him, and it changed my drumming for the better......that is an understatement. I got to reconnect with him when he was in Hardline, and opened up for Journey a couple times when he was with them. I can't thank him enough for the very high bar in drumming that he set, that made me a much better drummer. I wish him love, and nothing but the best. Go Dean!

He has so much of the Steve Perry......Some of those live Journey performances are unbelievable. And it's funny, because it's almost like the music is trapped into writing those 80's songs, melodically or vocally. But I remember, Steve Perry was the pinnacle male vocalist for people of that era. I'd almost like to hear what Deen can do with an acoustic guitar. Every once in a while a country singer jumps out. Steve Perry always had that Sam Cooke velvety sound in his ears, that's where it all started, and he expanded it to become himself, and his voice, was simply that of Steve Perry. I suppose my hope for Deen is that he (obviously stays joyful, hopeful and sober) finds something that vocally is all of his own. Something in a country/contemporary Christian setting just might be glorious. Peace and my sincere best wishes.

Our adult ,son is doing this , he is currently at rock bottom and refuses help even from his loved ones ; he is suicidal on a regular basis and has us walking on thin ice all the time , he’s been doing this for 20 years , in and out of hospitals but never stays sober , can’t keep a job , can’t even accept responsibility or cope with his own choices , I use to be a devoted Christian for many years and cried and prayed for him to change daily but he just gets worse which I’ve finally realized that there is no god helping anyone , if there is a god then apparently he loves to see people suffering, because prayers are useless and the world continues to fail and suffer

I am so sorry. Please don’t turn away from our Father in Heaven! It is not Him who is causing all this worldwide misery-His Word tells us that the evil one will walk to and fro seeking to destroy lives. We humans live in rebellion to the Father’s Word. He is Righteous…He gave us His Word and His Son and we have gone our own way and not His Way. I will pray for you and your family…it is not too late to come back to Him, but time is very short. He will soon deal with all this evil and this madness and the Rightful King Yahshua will Rule forever. 🙏🏻

Like he said, there are people who know the real Deen and they are still loyal and committed to him. That's beautiful. Didn't really know Deen until the Journey concert 6 weeks ago. What an AWESOME upload! God bless Deen. It's always said that people deserve a 2nd chance. Sometimes they deserve more than that. Thank god I never had an issue with drugs or alcohol but as a Veteran, I have met a lot of brothers & sisters that did. When I worked at a V.A. Medical Center, there were many Vets that worked with me that went through programs and got jobs at the V.A. Some had to go through the program more than once to get right. But most did, kept their jobs and paid the rent. My point, try to understand, if you have never dealt with the issues like Deen had, don't judge. May God continue to bless you Deen. @@shabozz8762 are you a perfect human being? Are your family and friends perfect? Look at Kobe Bryant. And obviously, Deen's wife forgave him and gave him another chance as they are back together again. Keep a positive mind... The best road you can take is the high road. Deen had a tour contract with dead daisys before the pandemic. After he fills those obligations he probably would do it except if journey needs a drummer before that, well, a contract with somebody else will have to be made. Meanwhile Neal still works w deen in his journey through time which frankly is a cooler concept than real journey. I’d rather just hold out for whenever they squeeze another one of those into the schedule next year hopefully

Didn't know much about Deen, watched all this KZbin stuff on him. Wow what a talent and a star, but hearing him take responsibility for all his mistakes was incredible. He's got what I wish I had more of, humility & kindness.
