We want you to get the most out of Sundays, so we have provided some questions for you to dig a little deeper into Sunday’s topic.
Luke 18:18-25
1. "We all must steer our ships wisely” When it comes to finances, how have you steered your ship wisely? What have been challenges to keeping it “on course”?
2. The man Jesus was talking with thought he was doing pretty good in life - based on the list Jesus gave him. When Jesus heard his self-evaluation, He challenged him. What does this tell you about what Jesus is interested in us? What would Jesus zero in on with you - finances, possessions, relationships, your heart, your relationship with Him, etc?
3. The young man became sad with Jesus' challenge - because of his wealth. He was unwilling to give up this one thing. When have you found yourself sad because you struggled to give up something a life with Jesus challenged you to give up? What was this thing providing for you that you pretty much decided Jesus couldn’t provide for you?
4. Is Jesus condemning wealth in this passage? Why or why not?
5. Read these 5 warnings about wealth: 1)Wealth can become a relational barrier; 2)Wealth can often lead to pride and arrogance; 3)Wealth can often lead to feelings of self-sufficiency; 4)Wealth can dull our senses to the needs of others around us; & 5)Wealth can entirely blind us to the effect it has on us. Which one is the warning you should take to heart the most? Why?
