I'm a Norwegian and I'm appalled. Barnevernet has been acting like a modern version of Gestapo for way too long already. The fact of the matter is that it's a billion dollar industry in Norway, where private profiteers are able to enrich themselves with the blessings of government officials. How so.? Because if a family or single mother faces hardships, it's considered an expense to the local social services if they were to render any support. If, on the other hand, the children are removed from the parents, social services will receive $$$$$ from the federal government. One can only speculate as to the extent of it, but I tend to believe that quite a few people up the food-chain, have their hands deeply planted in the honey jar here.

Note that it wasn't the Norwegian BV that gave the kids back though, it was the Indian government. BV is always extremely reluctant to give children back, even with court orders and multiple testimonies from independent experts (like child psychologists and childcare professionals). And when they do give them back, they never, ever, admit to having made a mistake. They are extremely dangerous.

Thank you for taking this dark story to the public. More people need to know these malpractices done by the child wellfare service called “Barnevern” in Norway. The story in the film “Mrs. Chaterjee vs Norway” is a true story. This family is not the only immigrants who have had terrible experiences from “Barnevern” in Norway. Many children have been taken from their parents for no logical reason.
@matwil74

They used to do this in communist Hungary. After numerous reports of kids mysteriously dying in state care Hungarian men got together, set up locations to call in and report child abuse cases. The agents would come to investigate and the men would ambush them, usually by hanging on trees to send a statement. Only aftee 6 months of this the agency collapsed with fear and was officially disbanded.

Here in the US it's all about class. I was adopted from another country and raised in a wealthy New England family. My adoptive mother passed away when I was 16 and after that my adoptive dad cut us off. We were subjected to insane physical, emotional and sexual abuse that has me with a solid diagnosis of complex ptsd. My brother became a phd somehow But I became a drug addict. I have now been clean 8 years but they still took the rights to my 13 year old last year. It's Christmas Eve today and I miss her so deeply. I have had a serious but mysterious illness going on two years now where I have lost 80 lbs only from being sick to my stomach. I can barely leave the house. When I lived in the wealthy family growing up, the police were called but my parents were never in trouble even when we had broken bones and black eyes. I have never hurt my child. In fact she was the only 12 year old I knew who never really had television, or video games. She grew up with art, music, and books. She is an artist way ahead of her time and is amazingly intelligent. My crime and the crime of many parents in my area is solely poverty. My daughter never was without food, clothes and shelter. She has always been safe. Thing is, growing up in wealthy America I didn't even know it was legal to remove children from homes. I didn't think it was real. My brother is a current alcoholic and is quite an angry fellow who most definitely hits his 5 year old son but he will never be involved with DCF like I have been because of his class only. It's bullshit. I hope in America WE can bring people together to protest this injustice so our children can be raised with their parents and not be moved around from unsafe foster home to unsafe foster home until they turn 18. I miss and love my daughter with all of my heart. I stand with all of you fighting against this!

The cut marks on the girls arm at 13:16 explains a lot how well her time in foster care was and how well she has been taken care of by the Norwagian wellfare service'. These scars are still very vivid. No child can be taken care of better than their own parents unless they are drug addict or sexual abusers.

It's a myth that children only gets taken because of alcohol, drugs, abuse or neglect. Statistics shows that the most common reason is simply «lack of parenting skills». And yeah, I do happend to know several cases where they have forcibly removed children from their parents within hours after birth because of flimsy small reasons, even completely false claims, and vague suspicions.

A similar situation had happened to an Indian couple. It was crazy because, in Indian culture we feed our babies with our own hands, take them with us to sleep at night, put bindis and tikas on them as a part of our religious ritualsz etc.., which according the that senseless govt of Norway is insanity of the parents and child abuse by them. They had to fight for 1 year to get their babies back. This year a movie is being made on this struggle named *Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway* . I really think the this not only a violation of human rights but also is kidnapping by govt.

Three reasons: 1 oil money. many people work for the government erning good wages. These are extremely safe jobs with short hours and long holidays. To ciritisice the government is a threat to these people. 2 People are brought up to believe that everuthing that the government tels you is good and true. So the government is allowed to practice the social control that adults are not allowed to. 3 this hitis immigrants more than ethinc Norwegians. The Norwegians think being an immigrant here is great due to all the welfre programs. however most ethnic Norwegians harldy have anything to do with immigrants apart from saying hello to your neighbor and the people at work. Few Norwegians understand the problem, although it could be considered systemic rasicm something Norwegians think only exist in the US.

The system is broken. And I think the reason why it’s broken is because there are things that are missing. We need more clear definitions of what constitutes child abuse, and certain aspects of things need to be re-examined. I don’t know how Norway is right now because a lot of the sources I’ve seen are outdated, but I have hope for Norway and I see it as something that can get fixed.

Taking peoples children without cause is a special act of cruelty. People should have a right to discipline their children without harming them. I couldn't live there. The state doesn't own the children. The system is nefarious. Removing a child for little to no reason is traumatizing. They take children from christian families, muslim families, secular families, all families. As long as you are not 100% perfect according to the modern Norwegian state's idea of a family, they can take your children. Muslims think "they are taking our children to make them christian", christians think "they are taking our children to make them hate god", both have a point but it's not true. They want the children to be Norwegian state citizens/taxpayers/consumers, a state like this doesn't like ANY religion or culture. If I as an Odinist homeschooled my children here while being open about our culture and spirituality, you can bet BV will come knocking within five minutes. No one is safe from them, anything you do can be construed as "unfit parents".

Why does only Norway feel parents are incompetent to raise one's own children. How do they decide parents' ability? Come to India and see how we raise kids or, for that matter, any other country. The world needs to be more serious about what is happening in Norway and ban that country. People dont migrate to Norway to suffer and avoid the most traumatic experience of being separated from your own kid.

In the town 20 minutes away from where I used to live, called Palmdale California there was a little boy named Gabriel Hernandez. He was beaten to death by his mother and her boyfriend. CPS was called multiple times they did nothing. That little boy died the judge in charge of the case was going to charge every single social worker that was presiding over this little boys case. This was in the county that they were trying them in LA. They went to LA in LA drop the charges for the CPS Workers
