Joust from Arcade 1up

Definitely the best looking of all the Arcade1up cabs, mainly thanks to the classic artwork and colour palette they used.. I just ordered the MK 30th Anniversary cab, mainly because it was on sale rather than it being the cab I like the best. I'd have gone for this one if it wasn't so expensive and difficult to even find. Thanks for sharing ;-)

Thanks for the reviews. I waited a while, to see if A1up was ever going to do the right thing and start putting BOEs in the Legacy cabs, but they never did, so I reluctantly broke down and ordered it, mainly because this was one of my favorites in the real arcades, when I saw these were starting to become scarce, I figured I'd sat on fence long enough. At least the cabinet looks a lot like the real Joust, albeit with the ridiculous Mortal Kombat buttons. So wish A1up would stop doing that, but I suppose it was meant to have as many games on it as possible, I guess. LOL. Joust will look very cool in a back to back setup with Defender, just as I've seen it setup in a convenience store, back in the 80s. At least the Defender 40th cab has the BOE, so I can play Joust on it, but that's not why I got Defender. LOL. I try to run title cuts on their respective cabs in my home arcade. LOL. Enjoyed the review.

I’ve got joust got it imported from the states and it’s the only joust in the U.K. that I know of and I paid something like $900 that’s ok for me as I’m in the U.K. and the U.K. never get good deals

You're probably still one of the lucky few! Tried to get my hands on one, but could only find them in the USA as you mentioned. Settled for the MK 30th Anniversary cab, which is the same minus as far as I'm aware, but obviously without the classic Joust artwork and colour palette, which I've always thought brilliantly reflects that late 70's and early 80's transition in terms of art style etc. I hope to add the Joust artwork at a later date if I can source a set.

Today I played Joust and I have to admit that I really do not like this game. I played it as a child in the 80s and the memories of this game are not that nice. The game gets super hard really quick and so the frustration curve heads straight up. Better balanced, the game really calls out for a decent game. But I spotted Klax in the menu below Joust and that is pure gold, I really love it. I would also be quite happy if I were just as skilled at building things, then I would build myself an upright arcade machine. Well done.
