It's extremely difficult and Ann is able to breath between demanding scales. Some days ago I listened to Vivica Genaux performing this role in Madrid; nevertheless her performance was inferior although her coloraturas and da capos were very interesting and imaginative

I like (late) baroque virtuoso castrato arias and Hallenberg is excellent as always, but the music itself isn´t quite satisfying for me. There´s no real strong melody, only musical fragments chained together. Neapolitan composers like Vinci or Porpora were definitely more successful with this kind of music. This feels much more like Vivaldi, very instrumental.

Absolutely right. But this aria is probably the most vacuous in the whole opera. The wonderful 'Parto' (act 1) is far superior and peerlessly sung by AH

Brian Robins I´m a big fan of Hallenberg. She´s technically brilliant, I like the color of her mezzo and her performance is always emotionally convincing
