@@Broockle Tekking explained that the reason he did is because he literally couldnt contain himself after the early translations came out, and that 1043 served as a miniature of what the reveal of One Piece is going to be like, I mean, 1043 was spoiled in social media since monday... MONDAY, and now we know how itll be like also, curiously enough, from all youtubers, I only watch reviews of GLR, Tekking and BDA Law, originally I also watched reviews of Morj and JB Theories, but fell out cause of Morjs Raid Fail due to saturation and got compleatly fed up with JBs Ghost Piece and his "Im an author too so I know whats best" attitude tough I still watch Roger and KoL for reactions only... tough I might stop watching KoLs soon

Translation is sometimes a bit silly, like translating Luffy's 'nikka' onomatopoeia to 'grin' was profoundly stupid imho. I don't care for the chapter by chapter reviews of most youtubers. Morj, JB, Ohara have some great theories once in a while. But I actually watch Joy Girl more often than them lol GLR makes chapter reviews the most fun, and dense, they are my favorite these days. I mostly watch Tekking for the Voices he makes. His Orocchi voice is still the best take on his character I think ;D Tho I tend to blast through Tekking videos on x3 cause they are really long and unscripted.

To be honest, I’m not really a fan of how many spoilers there are in thumbnails, even if it is needed for getting viewers. I believe Joy Boy Theories is catering for that spoiler free experience, and I respect that. I do find it annoying how many spoilers are there for anime only viewers, even though I do read the scanlations of the manga weekly.

I agree that it's unfortunate that there are so many spoilers in thumbnails, but I didn't look at any One Piece content when I was catching up (caught up about 5 months ago) and other's can do the same if they really don't want to be spoilt. I feel like GLR is like the main stage performer's "persona", while Dude in a Room is Liam basically taking us backstage in order to explain us how the special effects work. It creates a weird "intimacy" that makes you feel cozy, like you are talking with an old friend after a big performance.

I used to not care about thumbnails until I saw all the ones talking about a traitor with kanjuro in the thumbnail (back when I was anime only). I can appreciate tekking and joyboy not using the "goo luffy" for avoiding spoilers reasons, but I also understand needing to use such a hype moment on a cliff hanger to draw in more viewers.

Yeah, but in Liam's case he didn't use it for the chapter review but for the theory videos which makes it clear to everyone (including anime only watchers) that it's only a theoretical depiction of Luffy's awakening, in fact it's still even the case for the manga considering how we only got one panel for now.

Tekking's MS Paint red poneglyph with a smile has been his visual cue for Joyboy since Fishman Island back in.... 2015? 2017? That was when he made his first video about the most Joyous of Boys. So that is a very on-brand visual cue for his audience, because they know they red blob means Joyboy has been mentioned and thus we shath be hype!

I was also wondering why one of the greatest cliff hangers in the most popular manga (and second most popular "comic book" after batman) is so popular. Of course I love the video and I'm also wondering why so many people assume that those blobs are some kind of goo. When you look at the panel you can see that there is a steam being released from Luffy's mouth, but also from his body, plus if we consider that the Luffy lies on the ground, then those blobs are going up which would suggest that this has to be a form of gas or maybe even something like a soul (Big Mom's life or death effect looks pretty much identical)

I didnt know you had a second channel until I saw your face on the channel icon and I was like "oh this is grand line!" So i clicked and now you have another subscriber from the grand line channel onto this channel. I think for channels directly associated to one or two over all topics like OP you can make an argument that having your face in your thumbnail would be beneficial becuase then you'd be the one piece guy or the pokemon guy or whatever other topic you make videos about would then be directly connected to your face. Then again that recognition would only set in after you've gotten a good amount of subs and recurring viewers. Maybe then the benefits from associating your face with your brand has a greater effect the more your viewer base grows. Wow this is a difficult little problem really gets your noggin joggin, theres a lot of possible answers that could be right.

I think luffy being "possessed" or just being taken over by the past joy boy would be very underwelming, taking away the spotlight of the actual luffy. A bit like the time where luffy became nightmare luffy. I'd really like it if luffy REALLY awakened, well and alive, maybe exhausted, but still manages to kick kaido's ass with his own power. Judging from other parts of KZbin. I would say faces giving a reaction could work. They work elsewhere. We can recognize emotion in faces. So if a thumbnail has a look of shock on it, it could work. I don't know enough about this to really say how it works. All I know is many big youtubers use their face in their thumbnails to get clicks.

I would love to see in the next chapter, just this big ass panel of onigashima and all you see is Luffy/Joyboy/nika saying ‘OoooooooooooooooooooooooooKaaaaaiiiiiiddddddooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ And it’s heard throughout Onigashima to a point that the whole thing is rumbling because of Luffys conquerors haha and maybe even knocks all the weaklings out. And after everyone’s relaxed, the straw hats are super happy and you see Kaido who’s also super happy 🤣 And Kaido goes straight to the roof in excitement. And then maybe Kaido goes to the roof smiling and sees Luffy and says something like ‘I see…. You really are JoyBoy…’ I just really want to see something like this.
