Its incredible how genuine this music is, never again will there be a band conveying such sincere and raw emotion in such a simplified, yet so talented and genius manner. LONG LIVE JOY DIVISION

About 7 years ago I found this KZbin video thinking it was the actual music video for Disorder. I saw in the comments people mention 2001 a space odyssey and can I just say it changed my life. It is my favourite film ever and I always take every opportunity to watch in the cinema when I can. So to the person who made this video, thank you

This combines two of my favorite things. It totally fits the song too. I've always thought it was cold and dark but at the same time weightless and bouncy like space.

I think it's maybe my favourite song by Joy Division. I really love it : both the music and the lyrics. Even if it's a dark song, as always with JD, it makes me feel better. Perhaps because I find a bit myself in it...

I've been waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand, Could these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man? These sensations barely interest me for another day, I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, take the shock away. It's getting faster, moving faster now, it's getting out of hand, On the tenth floor, down the back stairs, it's a no man's land, Lights are flashing, cars are crashing, getting frequent now, I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, let it out somehow. What means to you, what means to me, and we will meet again, I'm watching you, I'm watching her, I'll take no pity from your friends, Who is right, who can tell, and who gives a damn right now, Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know, Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know, Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know, I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling, I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling. Feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling.

On this day, 36 years ago. A young dead soul who existed on the best terms he could made a fatal mistake searching for another day. He had the spirit but lost the feeling and gave us everything and more but the strain was too much and couldn't take much more. He felt it closing in, day in, day out, day in, day out as love tore him apart. Still touching from a distance, his heart and soul will never fade a away in the shadowplay.

haha yeah me too, back when I started listening to JD in 2007. These lyrics plus the uncertain rumors of the band beeing nazi oriented, made me think this song was probably exposing the gay "problem" or making fun of gay people

Very thoughtful association indeed; something makes those two works have an oddly great harmony. I do remember a music expert saying in a documentary about Joy Division ("Joy Division", 2007, by Grant Gee) that Unknown Pleasures was like a SCIENCE-FICTION trip through post-industrial Manchester (I don't remember his exact words). Another thing I notice that might be an answer is how genuinely timeless both works feel, while they're pretty old by now...I guess this is art.
