Ugly, sad, despair, but at the same time an inner beauty beyond words, beyond time. Such a loss, kid, such a loss.

greatest live recording ever. First heard it in '84, aged 14, head between speakers, vodka-drunk.. nothing has come closer.

Their finest ever recording. Knocks the album version out the park. The soundtrack to my teenage years. Oh wow. Just wow

If you’re a joy division fan or even the casual listener not many know that this live album was their last concert they ever played before Ian committed suicide 16 days later. You can feel his darkness aura through this whole entire album. It’s tough to listen to knowing what happens a few short days later.

Here is two live parts. This wasn't that last gig. Ceremony & Sister Ray (? I haven't read the sleeves ~20 years) are from the last one. Anyway. This is ...

And all "fans" knew that. But then came a time they bought fancy printed t-shirts. But not a single record. [Wise thing, London Records had eated them] ~2014. MICKEY MOUSE did it all actually. It's so 😂 If someone would come with pirate-JD-shirt on to our shitty town as late as late '90's... he would be beaten ...badly. The band was sacred. No covers, no tags. All those who can read know those things. Once it was a common desire and a common way to think. And I don't live in near Maccl or Manch... not at all. Once audio books was made to the blind ones. And we rec weird things to those casses. This was +15y after the punk came and brainwashed us.

I'm from Spain and I've always wanted to go to the Birmingham University, to the right place where this concert took place, and look for Ian's ghost. Unfortunetely the place doesn't exist anymore, but maybe the ghost is still around..

I’ve walked on water, DANCED through fire 🔥 can’t seem to take it anymore... This blows the studio version away in intensity. Still love both for different reasons, but this was is way more...desperate?

I think it's a ridiculous difference. I'm not sure I've heard anything better when it comes to that era. 70-90. It's a masterpiece.

Didn’t know if you knew this or not but this was 16 days before he killed himself so in away it was WAY more desperate. You can feel his last days in this whole live set. His edgy vocals were not present and were fully dark.

My high school friend had this 2xvinyl and TEST PRESSING of it. But he was a spoled brat ...so I saw how that pressing just was violently demolished. I should had have a guts and stole it like that FACTUS-UP (maybe one of the greatest vinyl pressings ever done) from him. He mimicked to like those... But actually he had just 1000x more money than we had by the time... We introduced some bands to him... but then that one day came as he wanted to make JD- covers... I said no. It was like... oh, you narcissist necrophlic... You got your 357 so... Feet-pics vid this one needs. I have a receip when I got my (then) last JD record. It was 1997. I'm 44. --- So I can just imagine how deeply this affected to many -year 1981.
