Nov. 2020 , I broke free from a very toxic relationship. He was manipulative and narcissistic. I allowed myself to stay under that because I had made him an idol, I didn’t realize that… but I cried out to God and told Him, I don’t have the strength to leave him, you have to do this!” And He did! Praise God and I am healing.

I'm so happy for you, I was in an abusive relationship with my kids dad and I finally broke free because he went to prison and I was single mother of four for 7 years but then I was praying to God to send me someone because I was lonely and tired of doing it myself so after that prayer I met someone at my job and when we went out to eat he asked me to pray with him so I thought God had answered my prayers. It has been 5 years of up and down with this man and right now I am not able to work because I have L4 and L5 disc problems and waiting for surgery on July 14th but this man I have been with which is my husband now has kicked me out and has not been helping me to pay my medical insurance so my aunt has paid for it the last two weeks. He has anger issues and I never know what mood he will be in and he has a drug problem that he has fought off and on since we have been together, and , my mother just got out of the hospital, I have been praying for God to give me strength and guidance and help me get my insurance paid until I can get surgery and get back to work.

Narcissistic abuse is far more complex than advising people to 'stand up for themselves'. People raised by abusers have complex ptsd and they have adapted for survival. It may be years or even decades before they even realize they are being abused because it's all they know, its normal. Speaking up in these relationships and resisting control does not go well and usually leads to punishment. My best advise to people who become aware that they are experiencing abuse is to remove yourself. Narcs don't change...you'll waste precious time in their drama. If there are no kids involved cut contact completely and leave quietly. Then your nervous system can properly detox and heal from the past. It's extremely difficult to heal in the same environment that is hurting you. Practice self compassion...this heals the shame. It's a process but be persistent, God does set you free but you must separate yourself from this.

in work situations, was assisting the process without question. Prepared, driving staff, training new workers. When I had ankle pain and physio, the employer could not show any understanding. He was thinking about the business going exactly as he wanted. Notably, the office staff with whom I spoke to after work...they were very busy, it was not a good time to say anything about me having some pain. Thus the employer (who wasnt around at that time) concluded something negative. Blocks to hearing what is happening are not so good. We all experience some changes while working. To be denied this happens is very unaccepting. In real teams if someone has an injury or challenge in their life, the team understands That Happens. They dont get angry and decide the person is purposely trying to have pain. No one can control everything. If you have consistently shown good responses and been part of a process towards some Needed goal, It ought to be brought to mind by employers. It was difficult to hear only anger how I wasnt being picture perfect. Its not all about the employer, Its not all about the employees. I got physio, I moved and worked at a different branch. Employers who want only positive results can get Too controlling. There are challenges in business, they must count the cost and anticipate these kinds of possibilities and Use their problem solving minds to Keep a balance. Plusses and minusses are both part of businesses. Or families, or friends. If they mind the variations that happen, then they dont matter. Funnily after working for another employer, one woman got a back injury. She had not been so understanding when I had broken my toe. In her time of pain I said I hope you get better. Her injury was by accident. She could not do her work /was now Not in control. Hope she remembers this.

Sometimes the confrontation is confronting yourself and make an exit plan and get out! It can be dangerous to confront your abuser.
@periwinkleblue22 жыл бұрын
@Cindy Robertson It is dangerous when you *Don't* confront. That's why the person being abused is insecure, unsure, afraid and afraid to make a move, any move. Trying to read the abuser's mood is what victims attempt to do before taking action, which they rarely do. This renders them 'helpless.'

We need to address head-on and openly the issue of narcissistic pastors that wreck havoc in the lives of people and make them even to stray from God and the church. Narcissist Don't allow you to confront, they will GASLIGHT you and deny their actions & words.
@ranjinirajendram34359 ай бұрын
Absolutely
@jaclynm.wagner27549 ай бұрын
It's not about confronting for a discussion. It's about stating something, being steadfast and then taking action. Just the fact that you're saying they won't listen or deny, you're looking for something in return. In order to break the pattern it's about what you say, how you say it and standing in that. What they do or say has nothing to do with it. For the record, WE ALL HAVE NARCISSISTIC TRAITS at times. They come out of everyone when they are triggered. Someone with these traits where they can't accept what you're saying or deny it, doesn't mean they don't hear it or absorb it. They are scared, especially men who are conditioned to be strong and not have emotions. They are hurting bc in their past they were so controlled in abusive ways. It's about stating the fact of what is taking place or whats not right or healthy in an objective way, standing firm in it by not arguing about it, and ALSO being loving with words, actions, and tones through the whole thing! You can't do this if you are triggered or emotional bc you're using a different part of your brain. You must step away, regroup, and then come back to state. If that seems impossible, then it's only because there's more healing you need to do around this area, building of self-esteem and worthiness that needs to happen, and that's the reason people like this are in your life so you can grow and evolve! Just know, when you step away, regroup and then confront in a loving objective way, you won't be swayed by emotion when they say anything back. You will only have more love and compassion for their inner child who is in a stare of fear bc that's all fear responses.

These types of people are everywhere... work, 'friendship,' family, etc... Nothing worse than dealing with people who need control and lack respect for others. I have had to learn to confront these people. You must ALWAYS stay calm. They will NEVER stay calm because they are used to mistreating people and getting away with it. Typically, they will cry, get extremely belligerent/defensive but very few, apologize (

It took me years of crying, Praying, not understanding why my mom has always been so abusive and controlling all my life and after years of Praying, Bible studies, Christian counseling, I finally realized that I totally believe that my mom is mentally disturbed. I had to move to a different city and cut ties with her and just pray for her. I can't be around her nor even talk to her except on special occasions, she's too toxic and messed up in her head. I pray fi her and trust God for my peace and comfort.

This video is spot off! You cannot try to get someone to understand you when their main focus is not to understand you. Just turn around and walk away because otherwise you are setting yourself up for a fight that you cannot win. These people have a life-long endeavor of putting you down so they can put themselves up. Good luck in trying to explain yourself.

Being in such relationship you have to decide that no matter what happens you will stand up for yourself. I did not realize I was in a toxic marriage until recently. I saw all the signs but I was so manipulated by him. He used spirituality to keep me under his control that I thought I was doing God's will. It hit me hard at first when God opened my eyes to it. I was so shock what my Bishop husband was doing to me. I was in a period of shock and depression. He did and say things to trigger my emotions and I would flare up in anger that made me miserable all the time. And he would announce to the whole church that his wife is miserable. Every chance he gets he would tell people that I am miserable. Everytime I did something that is good he would put me down. He never congratulate me for anything he would always say I could have done better. He always competing with me. He never like to see me happy. If he sees me happy and praising God when we are alone he would say things like 'Oh you are so loud' I am still in the marriage because of my daughter who us 12 but I am stronger to Stand up for myself and I lay down my boundaries. And I do stuff to make myself happy. But I prayed and cried out to God and one day I decide I must stand up for myself. I began to ignore him when he does and say things to trigger me. When he would try to embarrass me by telling people I am miserable I would gently say "Oh my husband is the one making me miserable" I began to stand up for myself in a gentle and nice way.

Thank you so much for this video and the prayer. I'm currently divorcing my husband of 20 years because of all the abuse I went through which he caused. The first 10 years was alcoholism and all the abuse that came with it. to think that all I wanted was to just love him and our kids for 20 years and every 6 months I would leave the house with the kids . He would use the word of God against me to manipulate and control me. I'm so happy I've left the house and have taken my children with me. I feel so much better and thank God for the strength HE gives me everyday. I believe God wants me to open a ministry and speak to woman about this in SA who are also going through this . Many women in SA are silent about the abuse they go through. I pray woman will become more cautious and self secure before they enter into a relationship..it so easy to fall into it because as long as you are a broken person looking for love . I fell into controlling relationships all my life, too. Last one was at work. A coworker bound themselves to my personality, skills, relationships, etc. all in order to have me do all the work and she got all the credit and rewards. Her success in doing this created a bully environment where other coworkers stepped up to ensure I was minimized and she was promoted. All to gain more favor. I left my job to put an end to it.

Im kind of amazed at victim blaming. Not everyone wants to confront their abusers nor should they. Some of them are poison and downright deadly.
@placeformomma2 жыл бұрын
It’s not victim blaming. The Lord says love Him first with everything in you. Greatest commandment. You also have a responsibility to love yourself as others. If He created someone in His image with a purpose and plan, we have to follow Him and it’s scary and I know firsthand what it’s like to be abused, but you can’t serve two masters. Who is man? God will give wisdom if we ask. If it’s dangerous don’t confront, just ask God to deliver you and make a way in the wilderness or a way of escape. Live by faith and not in submission to fear. Can you imagine standing before God and being asked what you did with what He gave you and you say I couldn’t because of mere humans? I’m not directing anger towards you, it’s frustration at my own self for people pleasing for so many years. Fear of man is a snare. There’s a verse in the Bible that talks about how can I serve the Lord if i’m still pleasing man. Read Proverbs 3:5 and seek the Lord. God bless you and I pray healing and deliverance and protection over every victim and wisdom from the Lord to do what they can because it was for freedom that Christ set us free. He is our Lord.
