Food poisoning usually happens a lot in summer because food spoils so quickly. Try avoiding yum (salad) because it pass through low heat or no heat at all. Anything somewhat raw in summer is also included.

I really like how impromptu you are as a person and that shows in the way your conversation flows through. And i can really understand your perspective on wanting to live in Thailand as someone who used to live in Midwest state in US (as i saw myself as a former exchange student from Indonesia that was placed somewhere out of sudden in Idaho). I know you didn't mention Indonesia as one of the top 3 countries you wish to visit, but if some sparks of interest ignites, please do come and visit! cheers!

@tedkuan - there is no perfect place. Even a paradise like Hawaii is plagued with crime and a high cost of living. Focus on the positive or go back to your mid-west exciting life. I'd rather breathe polluted air and drink toilet water in Bangkok than have to live in the mid-west.

Favorite areas in Bangkok are Phrom Phong, Chidlom and Ari :) And actually I started to love the rainy season, because the air is much better during these months.

I had being travelling to Thailand for the past 5 years in the 80s and its a very safe place to be but only it depends on which part of the. country. People there are almost very friendly or its better you know some how to speak thai and they will love you. I learn thai language for 2 years and am almost perfectly good in it. People from Bangkok and Chiangrai or Chiangmai speak a bit different. Those from Chiangrai and Chiangmai are Isan people so the language they speak is a bit different. I love Chiangrai the most.
love your authentic energy...You should explore the Ari area too :)

Joyce - wish you the best, just a note to pass along, perhaps you have already planned for this. I assume you plan to live in Thailand the rest of your life and be successful which of course would be great - but just be aware, once you reach 65 years you may not have any Social Security benefit built up since your tax payment in the US may be minimal, meaning your amount of Social Security benefit may not be much. Therefore, you need to plan on receiving nil Social Security when you may not be working at age 65 and thereafter. While I am sure you are planning to be financially successful with tons of savings, property saved that can provided you $ from age 65 until maybe age 90-100 - as at that time as an elder you may not be physically or mentally capable of working as a content creator in your elder years. If you have not successfully made savings, property to support you in your elder years, and you have stayed Thailand until your retirement years (age 65 or older) you will have virtually nil Social Security benefit in your elder years, which is helpful for monthly living expenses. That can be a shocking discovery in your latter years. I do hope you are successful, but on the other hand, we do not know what the future can be, so please bear this in mind. Of course, many want to believe that Social Security will fail, or can't be dependable. But things change or do not become as we hope in our personal lives. That Social Security benefit in the future can be important especially if you do not have a big nest egg built. Remember, once many people become 65, 70, 80, 90 years old, they lose the drive to work, become physically or mentally unable to work, etc. Therefore your savings and / or Social Security then becomes your only financial source. Best to have both - savings & Social Security, but for many their savings did not materialize as hoped and they only have Social Security. Please start thinking of this now - as many digital nomads, gig workers, etc do not think about what happens when they retire. That is understandable - but father time is undefeated. You will reach retirement age sooner than you think. Maybe think of life in decades - 30's, 40's, 50's might be your highest earning years, once you reach 60's you don't have time to make-up $ lost if your earnings in your 30's, 40's, 50's is lower than you expected. Digital nomad life sounds like a great life, but KZbin, content creating, etc can quickly change - AI for example could make digital creators obsolete - who will be the successful AI companies in the future (Microsoft, Google, Facebook, not an individual digital nomad). Hope this gives you something to think about - good luck to you.

Avoid visiting Thailand or Cambodia on March, April, and May it's very hot and for air pollution is all year round in Bangkok and Phnom Penh... I visit my native country Cambodia every year but not these months.
