Thank you so much for answering my question about how to still be there for a partner experiencing depression or a bad mood without getting down in it with them. It often can get irritating because I don't want to feel like that too and in my head I'm blaming them for making me feel like that, when really it's my own over-empathy that makes me feel/experience their emotions personally. I don't want to blame them and I want to help them feel better but I don't want to ignore my own emotions or wellbeing either. It's hard to find the balance of keeping my good mood or positive mindset intact without seeming ignorant to what my partner is struggling with and feeling guilty for it - almost like flaunting my good mood when they're struggling. To be clear, this isn't my partner making me feel this way, it's all happening in my head, they're always there for me in every way possible. I really appreciate this advice and it means a lot to hear an answer from a professional like your mum instead of conjecturing for myself or working with so many conflicting voices online and in my life. It's really important to me that I can work on myself and this relationship as there is so much love there and it is so important to me

thank you so much for speaking on the responsibility of the avoidant partner. I have been both the pursuer and the avoider and it really helps for both those sides of myself to understand that.
