Thanks so much for the scale explanations. I’ve been wondering for the longest time about the pros and cons of ascending 1-2 vs 1-2-3 fingerings as well as descending fingerings. Now I can settle on a fingering and practice the scale to get faster!

Thank you once again Joy! You have helped us all so much in so many areas. I have a question. I am having a hard time learning the diminished and dominant seventh three octave scales. I am using the Flesch system. Could you make a video about how to do those scales with proper intonation?

If I i want to learn scales in 3rd 4ths 6ths 7ths 8ths and 10ths would there be a Galam. Method? Because I've heard many emphasis Flesch at that point, but then I feel I would be very much confused processing the fretboard. What would be the best advice? Thank you for the amazing video ❤

Very helpful information! Would like to ask: Do you usually keep all your fingers down? Example: on A string with odd finger pattern (Bb C D# E) playing 1,4,2,3 do you press finger 4,2,3 (C D# E) down at the same time when you’re playing E or you press them only when you’re going to play them? I was told to press them together but I find myself having difficulties to press them at the same time, sometimes there’s additional note played before the 4th finger because it is way slower than the 2nd and 3rd finger. Another example: when you’re playing 1323, when do you put your 2nd finger down? While playing 3 or when you’re going to play 2? Can you talk more about this?
@JoyLeeViolin4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashton, for a beginner instructors encourage students to keep all fingers down, however as soon as your left hand frame is built, one should learn how to keep each fingertips light and learn to keep LH most efficient by leaving only the active fingers on. If you have to play 3rd and 2nd finger one after the other in fast tempo, it would be most efficient to place both fingers on to make sure there is no delay or noise between notes Happy violin practising!

Hello,I use Barbara Scale book(Sclaes for Advanced Violinist), what are your thoughts?
@JoyLeeViolin7 ай бұрын
Hi Bishal, Barbara scale book (for advanced players) is one of nice scale books in which it offers many variations of rhythm and slurs. This can be particularly helpful to young students and self learning violinists as it is easy to follow and understand. I wish you lots pf wonderful practising!
