Just for the holiday season. A 1971 TV commercial for the "Joyous Songs of Christmas" LP. This was sold at Goodyear tire retailers for $1 during December, 1971. #Christmasmusic

I remember these albums so well; I think I may have some like these among my parent's LPs. Of course the covers are long gone.

Oh my goodness- The Candle Record!!! This is my all time favorite Christmas record and it's a complete kick in the pants to see those candles moving- not to mention that "candle maker" himself. This is a great record, and I'm working on getting all the files digitally so they'll last forever. Though the idea of "Love's what you're getting for Christmas" withOUT the perpetual skip after "a great big package of... a great big package of... a great big..." just doesn't seem right. Great post!

Christmas 1971 was spent at my home with family except for my cousin and his family, who lived 145 miles away. But they had been up the weekend before (December 19). With a two year old daughter and a 4 and a half month old newborn son, it was sort of hard to bring Santa with them. So until the children were grown (another son came later), they either came up the weekend before or after Christmas (New Year's sometimes), depending on what day it was on. I was 9, so this was my 10th Christmas. Sadly, it would be my grandfather's last one (August 16, 1972).

Now I know the title of this Christmas album! My Dad must have gotten it at Canadian Tire! Bobby Sherman sang "Love's What Your Gettin' For Christmas" I think Carol Burnett sang The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)

If you ever could make a video of the songs on youtube, it would be mostly appreciated! I loved this album too!
