90s for sure. Great time to be a kid, but I'm also looking through the tainted glass of nostalgia.

Nostalgia or no, the music was better, and people didn't seem to have as big of sticks up their asses about everything. I mean, here in the States you had the conservative Christian right, but most normal people just had a good laugh at them. The 90's were just about the greatest era in individual liberty and personal freedom that the world has ever seen. Now there's this group of lunatics on the left who are *way* worse in many ways than the Evangelicals ever were.

Agree with the comments. Annoyingly I got the original album when it came out but like many things in 90's I leant the disc to someone never to be seen again. When I came to replace disc or download it's always got the other album cover. The original is the one to have. Post modern sleaze is not a patch on this, and 6 underground is also not as good. I think a couple of other songs may be remixed also but it's a thumbs down. Shame as many reworked/remixed tunes are often an improvement but this album should have been left alone. They should release the other mixes on a deluxe version of the album along with perhaps a few live recordings or tracks that didn't make the final cut. Best of both worlds then for anyone who prefers the newer albums mixes. Being down to personal taste some of you will prefer the other mixes at least that way we would all be catered for.
@blatherskite30094 жыл бұрын
Worst part is the record company re-released this album on vinyl recently, with the original "DJ killer" circuit-board sleeve-art and (supposedly) the original album mix, but they screwed up and pressed it from that horrible re-release mix master instead :( So there's a version knocking around out there that outwardly looks like it's the original (sparser, glorious) album mix but is actually the horrible commercialized re-issue mix with some asshole rapper going "Yo! Yo!" on it, and other horrors. What a nasty surprise for anyone buying it, reasonably expecting it to be the original version re-issued. Caveat Emptor, and all that.

@@ianwalters11 Time flies :) Yes, it's horrible that the "remix" created uncertainty about which version you're actually getting, and the foul-up with the supposed re-release of the original mix just made it worse. Apparently something similar happened with the first IAMX album, which is sort of the spiritual successor to Becoming X - it got "remixed," presumably to try to broaden its mainstream appeal. Shame, because the original mix - the only one I've got - is great (imho) in a very similar way to the original mix of Becoming X. Took the IAMX album round to a friend's place recently, and we were listening to it at fairly high volume. His neighbour in the flat below rang him during the album and I thought "Oh no, it's a complaint about the volume..." but they'd actually rung him to ask what the album was because they were loving what they could hear of it :) Any album that can get that kind of reaction from your neighbour is working just fine; no remix required :)
