It’s (slightly) humorous to look back when we thought we’d be quarantined for a short time. In October 2020 we began a three year campaign over Zoom and utilizing Roll20 for our maps. Our GM was amazing. We met in person 4 times, distancing, masked, testing before meeting up. I wish I’d found your channel then. I love to draw and find your maps and characters very therapeutic, while also being incredibly fun. (I found crafting channels instead and went all in making tiles, etc…) Thank you for doing these. Glad we survived. I know people who did not.

Once it’s completed I plan on tweeting it to you again! Your art is a huge inspiration, when I feel like drawing I put your videos on in the background. In LOVE with your style! new subscriber, going through and watching all your stuff. Truly inspirational. I make a lot of maps using wet erase and a grid mat for my game that I DM for friends. I made so many shapes way more complex than they needed to be for things like chairs. Your style, just like you state, doesn't beckon questioning, anyone can easily tell with each of your designs for symbols exactly what everything should be- all that's left is the DM stuff to fill in the imaginary part.

I used roll20 last school year to run a D&D elective. The class enjoyed it so much we continued it over the summer and brought the campaign to a fun conclusion. I had to learn how to link the miniatures to character sheets, but it allowed me to use lots of handouts (some I drew, many I borrowed from the web).

When I ran your module on stream, I had to do a little prep work so the players couldn't see all of the module instructions. I had to put the image file on the map layer and draw boxes on top of all of the DM notes. I then put a copy of the full thing in the exact same spot on the GM layer so I could still read it. I think it ended up working well. The hardest part was that the original file wasn't big enough for the map, so I had to stretch it a bit. I think Roll20's set up for huge map files. I would love to run more of your dungeons, though! The pair that ended up playing it loved it and the other two know that they missed out!

Great video! I would love to see how you tackle roll20. We've moved our IRL game to roll20 as well and it has been pretty successful, but I would love to see how you did it. We were already using DnDBeyond for character sheets, so we found that we didn't have to redo all that work if we use the Beyond20 Chrome extension. Then I'm just running the VTT in roll20 and thats it. Not too bad, and tons of fun. Cheeers!

Hate to disagree, but your maps are better than Skull Fungus's. SF's have a more distinct style, but they're also more "wacky", for lack of a better word. Pragmatically, yours are much stronger. What you did in a very short amount of time is likely a dim shadow of what you could achieve IF you wanted to draw a fully representational map. One trick, I expect I'll want to iron out is how to make a player map and a DMs map. Or even, possibly, how to make "room pieces" that I can take from 'behind a DM screen' and drop them onto an open space so I can reveal a map. Moving cover papers around is a bit clunky, I think.

Some advice: Your audience wants to see what you see. The fact that you have the camera at a different angle from what you are seeing is uncomfortable to the audience. We really don't get the experience you are trying to convey. Place the camera directly over your drawing.
@JPCoovert Жыл бұрын
When the camera is directly over the paper you can't see as I'm drawing. The angle is better in my newer videos though ;)

The content of the video was great but for some reason the isometric drawing at the angle to the camera was very off-putting. Made it difficult and uncomfortable to look at
