So so cool. Nearly 30 but I’ve started drawing for the first time (inktober) because I’ve been inspired by your vids and zines. Thanks for all you do!

Give Poska a call! Seriously. We would do well to know what is good-useful about all Poska pens. Show your big or small maps & detail-image-icons with various pens. I really don't know why i should choose a Poska pen over... a paintbrush... or a Bic™ pen? Excellent video - i love how you make the complex so straightforward and surprisingly fun.

How do you do secret doors for your party, and still pre-draw the map?
@JPCoovert

you could do a separate sheet of paper to put on top! i think that's better than covering it up.

Good timing! My group had to take a 2 month break and of course the 2 sheet of whiteboard marker battlemap dungeon has been erased. So I will be recreating what has been explored on 2 sheets of 1" grid paper. Thx for a couple of good ideas to add. Peace

Dude, c’mon! You should get a sponsorship deal with POSCA markers. 👍🏼 Come to think of it, the Micron folks deserve a call from your agent, too! Lol😂

Awesome and inspiring! From what I heard in the video it sounds like when you use a map like this in play, the players can see all the details right away and that gets them excited to explore some of those detail. I was wondering if you've tried partially covering maps to leave details hidden until the players discover them? If so, any pros or cons?
@JPCoovert
@JPCoovert Жыл бұрын
I have tried both ways! Covering only seems worth it if you are really trying to hide something. It gets tricky if there are hidden pathways and secrets in the dungeon, so that's when I would usually lay down some black construction paper on top of undiscovered areas.

@@JPCoovert You can also draw ''secret'' area on a second piece of paper, cut it and just stick it to your regular map when the players discover it. THat's how I do it in my game,this way nobody see the secret room!!!

Do you cover up the unexplored areas or is the entire map visible from the beginning?

I started watching your videos this week and I'm through a year or two. Have you ever looked at Animal Adventures? It runs with 5e with one or two rules to make it child ready. I've been dm'ing for my wife and daughters.. good fun.
