What do you think the best cam install would be for a 2011 Electra glide limited? I just picked it up and it has pretty much nothing done to it. There are Vance and hines pipes on it at the moment but other than that its stock. Im looking here on our Cyclegear site and see way too many options.I dont plan on doing a big bore or anything for a while if at all. With the amount of time i spend at our store i dont really have the time to mess with a huge build lol.

I'm sure you know what you're doing but since you took the cam cover off anyway, why didn't you take it off before you cut your push rods? You need to show these new DIY guys that the timing marks are your best friend for finding TDC. For you guys who don't know, when the timing marks are aligned on the two sprockets, you are at TDC on the rear cylinder. Cut your rear pushrods now. Rotate the engine 360 degrees so that the dot on the pinion sprocket is back to the top and the dot on the cam sprocket is at the top also, cut your front push rods. So much easier and precise than the method you are showing in the video.

thanks for the tip, much easier to understand .
@MiracleMadao4 жыл бұрын
Is that also the case when putting in the new push rods?
@DONALD-MAGA4 жыл бұрын
Jovito Garcia absolutely. Your lifters have to be on the base circle of the cam when adjusting the pushrods. You are on the base circle for the rear cylinder when your timing marks are aligned. Just as I described above. Have fun.

Thanks Patrick!!! I just installed this kit, with the 465C cam, by using this video. It worked! I would say pretty much any viewer can do the same. I just kept rewinding the video on my phone as I did the work and copied him exactly. I have to say that this video is all you need for instructions to install this kit. Took me one weekend. The biggest time sucker on this job was to procure all the right tools, bearing puller/installer tool, and funky allen and torks sizes for the various Harley-Davidson screws/bolts. Every time I thought I had what I needed, I then needed a different size. SUPER IMPORTANT: THERE IS A NEW SEAL YOU WILL NEED THAT IS NOT IN THE VIDEO! It will go behind the new oil pump just before you install the oil pump!!! There is a 2" diameter by 1/8" wide groove on the back of the new S&S oil pump for it. Harley-Davidson holds the patent on this special seal, so you can only get it from Harley-Davidson. S&S doesn't give you one with their kit because they aren't allowed to. That is why it is not in the video above and not in the S&S kit written instructions either. It will be the first thing you do when pushing on the new oil pump. Make sure you have it on the back of the new oil pump first!!! Harley-Davidson Part Number for this very important seal is 62400205. Cost me I think $15. You will need this special seal or your work is for nothing and the motor will be ruined without it. You will need one even on the 2018 model M8, which didn't come with one on the original HD oil pump in the first place. Just get the new seal by the part number, not the bike year. Anyone thinking about installing a S&S 465C cam kit with oil pump, cam plate, lifter anti-rotation pieces, tappets, pushrods into their stock M8 107, Just Do It Now! Your labor=Free, S&S kit with cam is about $1800. Night and day difference, Night and day! The exhaust note doubled in loudness and the galloping idle lope is intoxicating! My stock 2018 107 M8 Deluxe used to drop off power at 4000rpms like the brakes were being applied. Not any more! it just keeps going faster and faster, pulling and pulling. I gotta say it again, Night and Day difference!!!

To make finding the base circles easier for install of push rods, before you install the tappet block covers, with the top of the tappets visible, could you rotate and mark on the cam sprocket where the F and R base circles are? The blue is medium strength holding power, for bolts you would remove for servicing things later. The red is usually figured for bolts you don't ever need or want to remove later. Supposed to be a super high strength permanent glue.
