Leave a comment if I left out anything important! Edit: the only non-speedcube lube I'm aware of that works well is Traxxas 50k or anything similar. I don't think there is any common household item that works well as lube unfortunately.

the fact you actually said ‘that’s my *biased* opinion’ is actually wild. most youtubers can’t accept stuff like that and it’s good to see someone with some integrity
@inseminggd

And the craziest thing is that he could have gotten away with it, cause i think its a great unbiased answer as well. With a setup cube you get to know the difference between a lubed and an unlubed cube (once it dries out), that way you can tell if its worth it for you or not. I can speak from experience because when i started cubing i thought lube wasnt worth it, until i got some lube (and it wasnt even a good one)

I find it really useful to learn other methods/events like One-Handed, Blindfolded, Roux and ZZ, so you have a better general knowledge about how the cube works. Before trying Roux I really couldn't do slice moves, and after trying to learn some EG-1 algs for 2x2, I learn a lot of useful fingertricks! Roux and Blindfolded teached me quite a bit of wide moves, and One-Handed... It's a completely unique set of Fingertricks, and it developed my pinky muscle memory so much! I haven't tried ZZ yet, but I'm pretty sure it's good for learn when an F2L case (usually) needs a rotation or not.

You could probably do this yourself, just do a lot of solves, and when you get to PLL just stop and really think about what case it could be, if you need to pull up a PLL case pdf that could help. Good luck

I got told "do f2l intuitively and ended up making my own f2l method with a combo of advanced and begging such as putting the edge and corner into the bottom layer simultaneously without having to pair them up. However I think I have a much slower method to get them into the top layer in the first place as I'm not very good at recognizing patterns. Currently still working on it with an overall ao50 of 56.34 seconds

It seems to me that F2L is probably the easiest and most intuitive to learn to do it quickly. I'm not too worried about cube rotation, making the cross on the white side quickly, but I am very interested in learning the OLL & PLL steps of CFOP. On the other hand, I doubt I'll ever really take up speedcubing, which is probably why I'm not too worried about trying to speed up. I'm sub 2, and pretty happy with that, and it's enough to amaze my kids! lol! Even though I won't take it up myself, thanks for all you do to make speedcubing accessible to the masses! :-)

In the video, you mentioned how weight 5 can slow down the cube, but newer cubers may not understand the importance of slowing it down (they may think faster => better). @paarthpradhan198
@paarthpradhan198 3 жыл бұрын
@@andyflips1766 and that's the misconception of people, good cubes can make a difference but not a way big difference. Trust me I was sub 35 myself on "Rubicks" cube then I switched to Jperm RS3M 2020 and was expecting to get sub 28 but I was getting almost same result. Unless your rubicks brand cube really really sucks, I don't think you will be able to get sub 30 on good cube WITHOUT PRACTISE. Actually I noticed for the first few days I was faster on my rubicks brand cube than on my rs3m because I wasn't used to it or basically I didn't have it's practise. So if you wanna become sub 30,practise that's it nothing else but yeah you should probably look into buying a good cube for sub 30 because it's difficult if you're not expert at cfop or other advanced techniques.

After learning the 3x3, the best cubes I can suggest you can learn are the 2x2, 4x4, pyraminx, skewb, and mirror cube. (And trust me, the skewb is also a piece of cake! You just need to memorize one algorithm and apply it throughout!) The really enhance your eye coordination and help you improve in cubing. 🙂
@nasdfigol

Also skewb teaches u a different perspective because of its silly turning, meaning you 100% will learn new finger tricks

For me the most fun big cubes are 5x5 followed by 6x6. Usually smaller will be more fun as you'll adapt to the turning style more quickly, and it's hard to skip a cube size.

Im at sub 25 average at struggling as hell on learning look ahead ( i know i have a lot other things to.improve too). One of the main issues is actually focusing on looking for other parts while putting into slot (even tho i dont need to look at it). More frustrating is that i struggle with figuring out my 'progress' in it. Simetimes pairs like pop up just in front of your eyes so you dont really need to do anything special to 'look ahead', but sometimes they hide on the back etc. Hence its difficult to measure whatever i get better or simply being more lucky.

@@angryh9392 store the cube in a dust free environment or best just keep it in its box when not in use, another advice I'd give is use less lube because it's fragments can get stored in there and appear to be dust. Another advice can be to disassemble the cube less because that too can affect it. And finally, clean cube once in 2 - 4 weeks. After cleaning try your experience without lube for a while because I cleaned my cube just yesterday (at first it was lubed) but now I feel like the without-lube cube seems better than the lubed one (I have RS3M 2020)
