The Malaysian government is imposing more charges on the middle class and using the revenues to give to the poor. They are increasing the subsidies to the poor …. How can that be a good policy ? The middle class is the driving force of most countries…..you must incentivize them by making sure they are not overtaxed. The poor should not be PERMANENTLY given subsidies because that will make the poor EXPECTING permanent subsidies. Subsidies should be used to lift them from poverty and thereafter to get to middle class.

The reason for the growth in the M'sian econ is probably driven much more by stronger oil & gas revenue (which makes up 1/3rd of their fiscal revenues and oil prices have been elevated for a number of exogenous reasons) than by any impact from the reforms. Ditto to the rest of the commodities complex, which are higher due to a number of factors. Whilst the reforms are positive, but will take a lot more time to bear fruit in terms of GDP growth. The weak MYR is also beneficial in terms of boosting exports to the US/Europe. That's why JPM are still rating it Neutral rather than Overweight.

Dasar negara ni makan tahun untuk kita rasa. Sebagai contoh dulu ambil jalan mudah import bawang sebab murah. Kita tak berani nak bangunkan industri sendiri sebab kos bawang import jauh murah dari kita tanam sendiri. Hari ni bila harga import naik, kita tidak ada kuasa untuk mengawal. Penyasaran subsidi hari ni mmg akan dikutuk rakyat tpi bila penjimatan itu nanti digunakan untuk bina sekolah, baiki hospital, baiki jalan baru rakyat akan sedar. Tetapi nak bina semua ni ambil masa. Kerajaan hari ni memang sedang memperbetulkan keadaan dan terbukti ekonomi modal semakin berkembang. Sikit masa lagi ekonomi rakyat akan merasa kesan positif insyaAllah. Kesusahan yang abang nampak hari ni adalah hasil dasar PN yang menutup negara sewaktu PKP. tetapi kalau nak salahkan dioran seratus peratus pun tak boleh sebab masa tu pandemik perlu ambik keputusan darurat. Cumanya segala kesan inflasi hari ni sebenarnya satu dunia tengah struggle.
