So, what this is for is basically to slow down high flow of runoff water during a storm. The storm drains from the road and parking lots flow in to those large pipes. When there is a heavy storm, that water comes blasting down through there at a high rate and a lot of force... You don't want that much water hitting that stream with that much force. It would cause horrible erosion. Instead, the water blasts out and hits that wall. The small openings at the bottom only allow a small amount of water to come under. And, even if the water fills that space up, it's just going to spill over the top and flow down to the stream. But, not with all that force.

Thats a massive impact baffle! You should go there during a downpoor, I bet its terrifying!

One small suggestion. Use a drone for spaces you aren’t physically able to explore. Drones can fly and record. They’re perfect for exploration and what you do.

@@JPVideos81 well see here’s what I’m thinking. You can release x y and z videos whenever you want. It doesn’t have to be an episode spoiler if you used a drone. You’d just have to post those drone videos after the exploration episode.

WARNING! ANY commercial use of a drone requires an FAA commercial drone license, or you could face severe penalties. The FAA has been known to watch KZbin videos specifically to find violators. it's probably the drainage from the parking lot and the sediment may help filter out contaminants (oil, gas, etc) from the parking lot. I seen something similar implemented for a parking lot at a nature center I volunteered at years ago.
@davevenables353412 күн бұрын
To catch oils, fuels, etc there should be an underground “tank” called an interceptor in the parking lot, which most probably will run off into a water course.

Beautiful underwater view of the fish! Thanks for bringing us along and sharing the beauty and adventure with us!👍

That could be true about it being the lot drainage, but it's different from what I've seen before. Glad you enjoyed the underwater view.

The headlight bulb cover is because those pipes are for storm water discharge from the roads or possibly the parking lots you were at, at the beginning . Hence why storm grates say discharges to river.
@goofusmaximusIIАй бұрын
What I liked about the creek was that it appears that its not vsited by many. You could easily camp out there. So peaceful. And then the good time ruined because I would have to clean it up, hopefully with help of some friends. I couldn't just walk by it.

You were wondering why someone cut out the side of the boiler. It was common to see those cutouts. They were used to build or repair a snow plow blade. It was preformed for the job.

it's a spill box, the metal thing you were looking at. Yould would slide boards from the top down. 6"-8"-12" tall across the width. , you adjust the height of the water by removing or inserting boards. boards have rotted out of that one.

Its a drain pipe from the parking lot and runoff from the building that is above the parking lot you had to walk down to. It's so when it rains. The rain water would washout the little canal. Because the pitch and amount of flow has changed because of the surrounding commercial buildings and parking lots.
