I loved her talking about how she was basically Matilda but blonde and disabled and a vintage fashionista. I can imagine seeing little Jessica going to and from the library as a child and it makes me so happy. Jessica's light and optimism often keep me going on my bad days and help me to find the light in the darkness.

Jessica is tied for my top internet person. "I don't believe any human is a bad person, I don't believe anyone holds a thought is objectively evil. I think we all believe what we think is right, I think we all believe we're trying to do the best. So I just need to know why you think that's the best way to go about something, and I'm here to present why I think this is the best way." This is a philosophy that I love and believe whole heartedly. I aspire to live this and incorporate it throughout my life

“There was a sense that I wasn’t done. That there were things I needed to do and if I didn’t stay here, if I didn’t remain alive, then there were people I was letting down.” That is my favorite Jessica quote because it is amazing to see how many people have been changed by seeing her content and knowing about her life. She’s really helped me in so many different ways, and it’s crazy to see that she had the feeling that she was going to change the world.

“Relentlessly optimistic” is the perfect description for Jessica. I found her channel at a really low point in my life, and it pulled me up and made me smile and laugh. I wish I would have had a channel like hers to watch when I was a youngster...things would have been so much better. Keep putting kindness out there, Jessica...it does make a difference 😊.

"I just had to entertain myself, and I did that by inventing TV shows and films in my head and just playing them to myself." I know you already chose that yourself, but there is something so powerful, so resilient in this quote. Lying down, isolated, without any entertainment sounds horrible for even a day, but two years? As a teenager, that's basically a decade in a coma like state with the added bonus of full awareness and boredom. I feel like this could have gone down very different paths and Jessica coming out of it, no where near "healthy" with multiple physical impairments, but choosing happiness and creativity is incredibly inspiring.

"No matter what the biggest thing is that you've ever gone through it's equal to someone else's biggest thing..." I love that idea and it really does seem that the people I gravitate toward and feel most comfortable around are people who've had big life changing trauma in their lives because we understand that stuff like that doesn't just happen and then it's over, we carry it with us every day in everything we do.

Wow! That strong sense of belief in yourself can probably get you through most everything. How do I get that? I could be dying and if someone says 'you look fine, there's nothing wrong', I would not just stop trying to fix the pain but that would develop mental issues thinking 'maybe I AM delusional if everyone says so'. So I'm really extra and when you asked me to comment the favourite thing that Jessica said I took it one step further and spent the whole video writing notes and now I have 5 pages of quotes that I loved but I narrowed it down to my top three (let me know if you want more and I'll share them too haha). 1. 'It's either positive and we move forward or game over' I love this because I struggle with mental health issues and this is kinda the way that I have to think about the world sometimes. I could very easily let go and fall back into the darkness but I don't, even though it's very hard to stay afloat, for this very reason. 2. 'I was essentially a tiny blonde Matilda' this was me as a child. I understand the issue of reading the whole library and I wish I could still read as much as I did but I resonate with this quote so much. 3. 'I got absolutely no credit when it went well but when it went wrong it was of course all my fault'. I wish people spoke about this more but this is one of the worst thing I think an employer can do. Schools, jobs, society all do this and it's honestly so soul destroying. All the way through school and jobs I've felt like I was being ignored because I wasn't a nuance and it's honestly heart breaking. Also bonus: 'my skirt is big and fluffy an that makes me happy'.
@DigitalVoices5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for such a thoughtful response. Your first point about optimism and not having any option other than to carry on really struck me too. It's a powerful testament to Jessica's resilience. Plus, big fluffy skirts! 😍

I very much appreciate your close-proximity use of microphones. I have difficulty differentiating sounds when there's a lot of natural room reverb in audio. I also hear that you're often muting the mic of the person not speaking so as to minimize the ambient noise. It was a pleasant surprise. I stumbled upon this channel while looking for videos featuring Jessica, (big fan) but I'm subscribing to this channel. Well done!
