Absolutely eye-opening, this jQuery Mobile with Phone Gap Builder is really excellent. What a forgotten gem. People are chasing terribly complex frameworks, let's not name any of them here, when jQuery Mobile is available for many long years. As far as I know Samsung's Tizen Web App for Galaxy Watch was based on jQuery Mobile. This page concept is brilliant. I bought the $1 package right away, My Young Friend.

Hi Michael, I’ve watched your 2 videos on how to make an App and found it fascinating. I did a programming class back in 1980 but now I’m 75 years old my brain is a bit soggy. I am a volunteer to a community based organisation here in NZ. They have recently purchased an iPad to use for logging patrol reports. I created a template in numbers and it seems to work quite well. Some of the people that volunteer are older and not very computer savvy so I thought I could create an App to do some simple tasks as follows. A. Log on. B. View previous reports. C. Load template. E. Automatically email numbers report (template ) to an fixed email address. If there was an App that they can just push a button,it would make it easy for them. The organisation has very little funds. Do you think there is any way that one of your subscribers would take this on as a project to help our community here in NZ . Hmmm, I'm going to go back and watch the first video again. Long ago I wrote an app for my treo using HanDBase. I kept track of my flight instructor times and used it for simple cost plus tax billing and customer info. I'll go back to the first video, but do you think I can use this? Hi Jim, I first used this system to make a data tracking app for my sports performances. Everything is handled with Javascript and the local storage feature, which I use like a database after stringifying it: www.w3schools.com/jsref/prop_win_localstorage.asp Will definitely work the same way for you but it's probably too complicated to make a video about.

Localstorage is the only viable option for saving and loading data locally right now using phone gap is you want cross platform support over the long haul. By design html/Javascript etc is not supposed to have access to local device storage for security. You wouldn't want websites accessing your hard drive... There are some apis that exist but they do not support ios and Android and it looks like support will either be dropped or limited to a single browser type. Boo. No good. The only reliable, cross platform way to export data out of the app for a user to use somewhere else is by sending the data to a server. This could be via Ajax, some kind database, etc. I have not seen a way with straight Javascript that isn't some hack that won't reliably work on all devices to export files for a lay user to pull from the device. If anyone knows please update me.

Hi I tried building an app and now I am stuck with two problems as follows:- 1. When I installed it I got a popup stating that the app was build for older versions of android. I used the jQuery Mobile so was it due to jQuery or anything else? 2. I wanted to embed one of my youtube video so I did it and it worked fine on browser even on the inspect screen when I used some phone simulators to check whether the css class for making the yt video size responsive were working or not. However when I installed the app instead of an embedded video I could see the message : Webpage not available The webpage at url could not be loaded because: net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE

Ok, so i am using WYSIWYG web builder to create html pages for a mobile app, it creates sperate html page files, i have problem changing the transition style, i copy and pasted data-transition="slide" but wont work.

Do all the pages have to be coded directly within the index html? If I have a website with various hmtl pages, how would I get it to link to each separate html file rather than having to put all the text of each page within the index file?

They can be set up like any other web page, so separate html is fine. Normally you would use a server side language like php and a database like mysql to store and make searchable your content. Hard to do that here, so a single page might work better.

Hi NIce tutorials.. I followed your technique but...I cant view the app on the iphone. Only on android devices.Even though the compiler does an ios version it scans but does not open in ios. I used HTML5 web storage with JSON as a make shift database for storing stuff. I don't have experience integrating SQLite with Phonegap, although I've used it with PHP.

Hi, I downloaded the complete code. I am trying to phonegap build for IOS and android. IOS build failed as expected(asking for certificate and profile). Is there a way to generate a profile by which I can test the app in multiple IOS devices?. I have a developer account. My requirement is to test the app in a variety of devices using saucelabs or browserstack. Whats the best approach i can follow?

You should add platform for ios as well. If you have used phonegap application to create required folders. There's a folder called platform you should add ios platform.
